  • With Galaxy Note 7 proving to be a fatal launch for Samsung, there were speculations on whether the successor to it will be launched or not. Samsung has not dropped the idea though, if leaks are to be believed. The Note 8 will not be announced at MWC, but may make an appearance in March 2017 or so.

    The design and display
The new device is supposed not to support S- Pen Stylus anymore. The phone will come with slim bezels and will have finger print sensor on the rear. The display size is likely to be bumped to 5.7 inch for the standard variant and 6.2 inch for the Plus version. Speculation mills have been suggesting that the Galaxy Note 8 may come with Quad-HD or 4K Super AMOLED display.

    Cameras
There is a likelihood of a 16 MP rear camera. It will have Optical Image Stabilization and f/1.7 aperture. The front facing camera is expected to be of 8 MP resolution. However, the rear camera can also have a resolution of 12 MP with improved imaging capabilities.
    Hardware
The Note 8 will come armed with Exynos 8895M - the in hose processor from Samsung. Some regional variants may have Snapdragon 835 powering them. The graphics will be handled by Mali-G71 GPU. The phone can come with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM. We may expect it to offer at least 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage.
    Software
The Galaxy Note 8 will run on Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box. There will the regular sensors from the Samsung stable - heart rate monitor, finger print scanner and iris scanner to name a few. It will also come with Bixby AI.
    Other features
The new Note 8 is supposed to come with water resistance properties. The battery is likely to be at least 3500 mAh in capacity. It will support adaptive fast charging. The phone is also likely to offer wireless fast charging and USB Type C adapter.

Details on pricing may be too early to speculate on. However, if the trends and rumours can be believed, it may have a price tag of around Rs. 60000 to 63000.

  • Here are some of the specifications being released for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

    Display

The device has the 5.7 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has 16M color support along with the 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution. Being the Galaxy Series phone it does support 3D Touch and multi touch display options.

    Hardware

The device is being released in dual SIM and Single SIM mode. It has memory support for the 64 GB Internal memory and up to 256 GB external memory. The best part about the device is that it has a lot of RAM of around 8GB. This means it is good for playing games and also for processing 3D apps.

    Camera

The device has 12MP camera lens for the primary end and 8MP lens for the secondary end. It has f/1.6 aperture autofocus with phase detection. So in terms of image quality, the camera is definitely worth taking a look at. I'd say you should consider this phone for both the cameras and for high processing tasks.

The device has Android Nougat installed on it by default. The patch for security is with respect to January's last security update on the Nougat.

    Connectivity

The device is known to support the USB v3.1 and has OTG support for Type C devices. It also supports NFC and Wifi Direct along with the updated Bluetooth standards.

    Battery

This part remains to be tested. And not many review sites and magazines have tested it. And based on the Samsung 7 series meltdown news. I think it'd be harder to gain trust on that front. You may only find the information that the included battery is of Non-removable Li-Ion battery type. No uptime tests made to showcase how much it can stand for uptime.

    Price

The device is speculated to be priced between Rs.62,000 to Rs.64500 And you may find some difference in local and the online pricing after the release.
