Well, if the information available over the internet can be believed, Nokia is making a comeback in 2017 with two new smartphone models. It would be interesting to know the implications that this move will have on the global smartphone market.
One of the devices is supposed to be a flagship model for the company on the lines of Galaxy S Series from Samsung. Another one will be a medium price bracket device. Google is known to be working in close association with Nokia for the development of a better and sustainable hardware. Nokia is understood to be engaged in formalizing a licensing deal with HMD Global. The partnership is likely to be inked for the period of next ten years.
Nokia D1C
Though nothing concrete has been transpired, Nokia D1C is the rumoured to be one of the devices from Nokia. It is likely to have a launch at MWC 2017. Reports suggest that the smartphone will have a 5 and 5.5 inch display options. The phone is expected to have 13 and 16 MP rear shooters. The RAM capacity is believed to be 2 GB and 3 GB for the two variants.
Nokia D1C is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 and will have a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. Adreno 505 GPU will take care of graphics, while the display is supposed to be Full HD. Nokia D1C will run on Android Nougat 7.0. Both varinats of the device are likely to have a common internal storage capacity of 16 GB. The front camera is said to be of 8 MP resolution.
Pixel
This is yet another device supposedly coming from Nokia. The model name may change later to avoid confusion with Google's devices. Nothing much has been reported about this mid range device. However, some reports suggest Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 and 1 GB of RAM. The entry level phone is supposed to have Quick Charge technology. There are rumours suggesting Android Nougat 7.0.1 running on the phone.
Unnamed High end smartphone
Nokia is also likely to come up with a high end device at MWC 2017. It is expected to have a 5.2 or 5.5 inch display and likely to have 2K resolution. Rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the high end smartphone from Nokia is also stated to have Zeiss lens on the rear camera. Reports suggest an all metal unibody construction along with water resistance properties.
It may be too early to conclude anything from these reports. There have been umpteen leaks coming in almost on a regular basis. The final outcome may vary considerably from the specifications currently being leaked.
