  • How to control anonymous links opening in a Smartphone?

Do you want to know how to control anonymous links opening in a Smartphone? Ask our technical experts to guide you through.

I have an Honor Bee mobile which I use as a spare one. I don't know how this problem started. When I switch on my mobile I am seeing a white screen in display, and sometimes the keypad is disrupted with a Google search link. Sometimes, the play store application is opening of its own and interrupting. When I switch on my mobile data, lots of apps are getting installed automatically. I don't know how to control this. My device runs on Android 4.0 basic versions. It is not upgradable either. Even after I reset my mobile, the same problem is persisting.

Could anyone provide me the solution to handle it by myself without getting into the service center?

  • Here are some of the things that you can do to rectify this problem.

    1. Turn off the auto updates from google play store.

In order to turn off the auto update of any app on your phone. Follow the steps below.

    1. Open Google play store app.
    2. Tap on the hamburger settings icon on left near search.
    3. Go to settings.
    4. Turn off auto update.
    5. Set the app update to Wifi only.

This should take care of the autoupdate of apps from the play store.

    2. Turn off the auto installation feature enabled due to third party app.

In order to turn off the auto installation feature, we have to find out the third party apps which are holding the auto install permission. Download the " Addon detector" app. This app can allow you to find out if there is any app that is automatically downloading other chained apps through it's permission.

Download the app from here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.denper.addonsdetector

Find out which app is doing the auto install through this app and then remove those apps. At the end also remove the addon detector app.

    3. Uninstall the app downloaded through reward programs app.

If you have installed the app that downloads the other apps for monetized compensation to you. For example apptrailers, perktv and taskbucks. Then you can get rid of such apps. And this way you can also get rid of the apps downloaded through such system. This will also help get rid of rogue app if they are dependent on any other app.

    4. Manual removal

By now you know which are some of the apps are installed by android and which are installed by you. Now you have to find the apps which are not downloaded by you. And then get rid of those apps. This way you can clear the error that is happening for auto redirection of links. Also you can get rid of auto download of apps which happened.

At the end do run the Antivirus and the anti spyware inside your android phone. You can then get rid of the malware if there is any.

  • It looks like your phone is been under the control of a virus. It must have played with your initial settings and now, things are not working the way it should have.
To get it back to its original proper stage, you can try these following:

    Remove unnecessary apps
From your apps list, remove all the unnecessary apps, that are not being used everyday. You can re-install them, at any point of time later. But make sure you don't remove any in-built apps.

    Disable Auto Update
From your Settings, go to the Enable/Disable Updates, and disable auto-update feature. Make sure to choose the "ask before updating" feature for this.

    Disable the Google Search Widget
From your Settings, go to the Preferences, Select the Widgets. There you can scroll through them, and find the Google Search Widget. Remove that widget for the time being. You can always bring it back to your homepage afterwards, once your phone is working fine.

    Run a Good Antivirus
Scan your system with a good antivirus and fix it, if it shows any threat. Once done, you need to reboot your phone and see if it works.

    Factory Reset
Even was facing a lot of issues with my phone a few days back. Finally I had to go for the factory reset formula to get my phone back to normal. But each phone has its own way of reset. So, search for the right method of factory reset and then go ahead. Don't forget to back up your data, contacts and important files, before you do so, as once you go for a factory reset, you won't be able to retrieve them back.
This may take some time, but your phone is more likely to go back to the earlier state.

    Hope that works.

  • Auto Update
I guess you have confused the Auto Update feature on the Google Play Store. There may be a few applications installed on your smartphone and it is possible that they have been set to Auto Update themselves. As we are aware, Android apps receive updates quite frequently. There are certain apps that receive updates almost on a daily basis. WhatsApp, Facebook and Messenger are a few classic examples of this issue. So, the first thing you need to resort to should be to disable the Auto Update feature. You can do that for all the apps in your My Apps list or choose to disable only those apps that you would not want to Auto Update.

    Anti virus
Having said that, there could be other issues like a virus attack or malware. I do not think smartphones have any kind of virus attack. Nothing gets installed on your smartphone unless you intentionally do it. Technically speaking, no app can get installed on your phone until you authorise the app to do so. However, if you want to be sure - you can choose to install a good anti virus software. If the anti virus tool you have installed indicates any issues, you can choose to fix the same.

    Rogue apps
Some rogue apps may be playing havoc with your device. Review all the apps you have installed on your device. Check which apps do you use regularly. Smartphone users normally have a tendency of installing every other app app even when they do not use it. For instance, even my phone has around four apps that provide Railway information. To be frank, only one of them would be enough - as all of them give the same information. The same would go with almost all users. Check all the apps you have installed and find the frequency you use them. Uninstall those you do not use.

    The final resort
If everything fails, the only option left for you would be to factory reset your phone. Please note that factory reset will delete all your data from the phone. It would always be wiser to take a back up of the files you would not want to lose.

    Live....and Let Live!
