Vivo V5 specs, price and release date

Vivo V5 has already been released in India on November, 15. The phone has been launched primarily as a competitor to the Oppo F1 and has been a camera centric device. It focusses on the front camera just like Oppo F1 does. Some of the salient features of the new device include -

The design
Design is quite contemporary. The rounded edges make it look stylish in tune with the current standards. It has a metallic unibody construction and also has antenna bands at the rear. The phone comes with a nano SIM slot and 3.5 mm audio jack. The home button consists of the finger print sensor embedded within. The logo on the back offers a premium feel as it is embedded within the metal. Vivo V5 is available in Space Grey and Crown Gold color options. The smartphone fits comfortably in your hand.

The display
Vivo V5 has a 5.5 inch HD display. You get 2.5D curved glass. There is Gorilla glass protection to take care of the screen from damages. In another first, Vivo has introduced an eye protection mode on the device. It is claimed to filter blue light, thereby reducing eye strain.

The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek 6750 octa core processor. The clock speed reads 1.5 GHz. The processor is 64 bit compatible. Vivo V5 has an internal storage capacity of 32 GB. Coupled with it is a whopping 4 GB RAM. That should make your phone a multitasking monster. You can extend the memory further by another 128 GB. But Vivo V5 features a hybrid SIM slot. The camera has a single LED flash. The front camera is of 20 MP resolution. Vivo claims that it is the World's first smartphone with 20 MP front sensor along with selfie flash. The V5 has been touted to be the best selfie device with its Moonlight Glow flash. The camera app comes with a Face Beauty mode to reduce blemishes and enhance the quality of selfies. The Moonlight glow flash ensures the natural glow on the faces. Rear camera is capable of shooting full HD videos at 30 fps. There is also support for slow and fast motion recordings.

The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with customization by Vivo FunTouch OS 2.6. The interface features no app drawer, yet quite easy to understand and use. There are a few built in apps like WhatsApp, Facebook and a slew of Google apps. The re is also a Smart Screen Split option akin to Samsung's multi window function which let you run two apps on one screen.

Vivo V5 has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh. It should be enough for a day's backup. Quick charging is supported. The phone also features USB Type C port. The phone supports 4G VoLTE. There is a dual SIM compatibility, but you will need to make a choice between the dual SIM options and the expandable memory storage. USB OTG is available, but disabled by default. The ViVo V5 has been priced at Rs. 17980. The phone has been launched on Nov 15, 2016. Pre orders are being accepted from November 16 to 25. It will be available across retail stores from 26th November.

Vivo V5 is launched on 15th Nov, however yet to get in the online stores, though formal announcement made for the 23rd Nov release on mainstream distribution.
