  • 2.0 USB Pen drive with high data rate transfer speed

Are you planning to buy a 2.0 USB Pen drive with high data rate transfer speed? Ask our technical experts.

I want to buy a 16GB pen drive having writing speed greater than 15MBps and read speed greater than 50MBps but It must be a 2.0 pen drive not a 3.0.
Also let me know that if I use USB 3.0 pen drive in 2.0 port in my PC the speed will be same or different and what if I use it (3.0 pen drive )via OTG cable to connect to smartphone it will support if yes what about speed of data transfer?
My budget is 600 Rupees only.

  • Here are some of the good options for you for USB 2.0 pen drive.

SanDisk Cruzer Blade SDCZ50-016G-135 This model has the higher data read and write as per your specifications. You'd find that the cost is affordable too. It has USB 2.0 support and good for the PC and similar other device.

    Cost : 296 Rs (Amazon)

HP V250 : Very popular USB drive from HP's series of USB 2.0 drives. It has higher read and write speed. It also has handy keychain like shape that can be used. Suitable for PC and other USB 2.0 devices. Cost is also affordable under your specified budget.

    Cost : 549 Rs (Amazon)

Kingston DataTraveler DT101 G2: Kingston has some really good USB drives. And they also have long term support for their product. Like transcend they give you 5 year support for the USB drive. Also the datatraveler G2 has USB 2.0 support for PC and devices. In terms of cost it is also affordable.

    Cost: 332 Rs (Amazon)

Transcend JetFlash 340: This model from transcend has 16GB capacity with high data read and write support. You may find that the best part of their flash drive is the after sales support for 5 years. This model also has support for the device with USB 2.0 OTG on regular connectors. Price is also a bit reasonable.

    Cost : 578 Rs (Amazon)

Strontium Nitro: This 16 GB model from has support for USB 2.0 OTG devices and PC. It has high data read and write support. It is also moderately priced for these features. The key-chain type design also makes it attractive.

    Cost : 478 Rs (Amazon)

Also let me know that if I use USB 3.0 pen drive in 2.0 port in my PC the speed will be same or different: When you connect the USB 3.0 on the ports of 2.0 support, the device falls back onto the backward compatibility mode. It doesn't matter if your PC has the USB 3.0 driver or not, the speed will be as per the hardware support and not the upgraded based on the new connected device. So it'll be different and decided by the USB bus speed decided by the port (which in your case is set on USB 2.0).

what if I use it (3.0 pen drive )via OTG cable to connect to smartphone it will support if yes what about speed of data transfer?: In such case the data transfer speed will be higher around 15 mb read and write or more, depends on the device.
