  • Well, for an effective comparison between the two devices - we need to analyse them based on a few key aspects.

    Display
The LG G5 comes with a 5.3 inch screen. The phone boasts of a qHD display technology and has a quantum display. The pixel density reads 554 ppi. The resolution reads 2560x1440 pixels. Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a slightly smaller 5.15 inch screen. But you get just a full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The pixel density is again a little lower at 428 ppi.

Winner - LG G5 is a clear winner in terms of display characteristics.

    Looks
In terms of physical dimensions, the LG G5 measures 5.88 x 2.91 x 0.30 inches. Xiaomi Mi5 reads 5.69 x 2.72 x 0.29 inches. When it comes to the weight, LG G5 is the heavier one at 159 grams, while Xiaomi Mi 5 weighs a little lighter at 129 grams.

    Hardware
Both Xiaomi Mi 5 and LG G5 are powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The newest ocfacore processor form Qualcomm is 64 bit compatible. However, the LG G5 has 4 GB of RAM, while Mi 5 has 3 GB of RAM. Meanwhile a 128 GB ceramic cersiin will have 4 GB RAM. The LG G5 comes with a 32 GB inbuilt storage. The Mi 5 will be avaioable in three versions of 32, 64 and 128 GB. Xiaomi Mi 5 does not have any memory expansion options. While you can expand the memory on the LG G5 by another 200 GB.

    Camera
LG G5 has a 16 MP rear camera and a 8 MP front camera. Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a 16 MP rear camera as well. Howevwr, the front camera on Lg G5 is of 8 MP resolution while that on Mi 5 reads 4 MP. • Here are some of the interesting differences between the two devices.

MIUI One of the best things about the stock android in the MI5 is the ROM. In case of the LG G5 you may not find much of an interesting in terms of ROM features. MIUI has developed it's own eco-system under their own ROM. You get MI apps and other UI improvements with their ROM. In case of LG G5 you get plain old vanilla Android with some LG modifications for their branding.

Both these phones have Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) installed on them by default. Only ROM improvement is done on MI5 phone.

Body Design I'd say MI comes with some of the classy designs and it's really hard to beat their body designs. LG G5 is typical plain design like the one you see with Samsung or other phones. LG G5 has a decent design but in terms of body design I'd say Mi5 is much better in terms of look.

Display SizeOn this front the MI5 has scored low as the screen size is 5.15'' whereas LG G5 has 5.3''. However considering the design and the stock UI of Mi phone, I don't think that 0.15'' difference is visible to regular users.

Memory Each device has two versions with different RAM. In case OF mi5 it has pro edition and regular edition. Pro edition has 4 GB RAM and regular edition has 3GB RAM. In case of LGG5 850 has 4 GB RAM and 840 has 3GB RAM.

Connectivity Most of the features are common in between both the devices. However MI5 has Type C USB connector for the device charging and file transfer. This is as per the USB 2.0 standard with OTG 1.0 support. In case of LG G5 it has MicroUSB 3.0 standard supported and has OTG support too. Both of these models support NFC and Infrared. So in terms of hardware connectivity, both the models are pretty much balanced.

Camera If you ever test Mi camera then you can notice that they outperform even the models with higher resolution cameras. The reason being they have support for blur and shaky handling. The same performance improvement continues with the Mi5. However LG G5 has more screensize making it add more megapixels per display. So you may feel that LG G5 has an edge with camera. However both the camera are 16MP on rear end. On front end LG G5 has 8 MP camera whereas MI5 has 4 MP. If you're a member of MIUI forums then you can check out some of the images of MI5 camera and you can observe the quality of the snaps.

Battery Performance As MiUI makes use of local caching to load the default apps load quicker, the battery is preserved in the process. So the battery performance is very impressive with the Mi phones. There are not many tests being done on the LG G5 in terms of battery performance. Also there is no local app caching for G5 so surely the performance would be moderate.

Overall, both the phones are on same level in terms of specs and performance. With slight additions for LGG5 which don't matter much if you compare it with MI5. I'd say on the basis of camera performance, body design and MIUI ROM, the device MI5 takes better edge over LGG5.

  • Size:
The size of LG G5 is a little bigger than Xiaomi Mi 5 as the former is of 149.40 x 73.90 x 7.70. and the latter is of 144.50 x 69.20 x 7.25

WeightThe LG model weighs more than the Xiaomi as it is 159 gm while the Xiaomi weighs only 129 gm .

Battery The Xiaomi runs on a more powerful battery with a capacity of 3000mAh and the LG comes with only 2800
mAh capacity. While the Xiaomi doesn't have a Removable battery, the LG has.

Colours The Xiaomi comes only in its standard color whereas the LG is offering four shades, Gold, Silver, Titan and Pink.

Display The Screen size of Xiaomi Mi 5 is 5.15 inches and the LG G5 is of 5.30 inches with the resolutions of 1080x1920 pixels and 1440x2560 pixels respectively. So the quality of display will go more higher with LG than the Xiaomi Mi 5 with 554 (PPI), while the Xiaomi has a (PPI) of 428.

    Hardware
The Xiaomi Mi5 runs on a Processor of 1.8GHz quad-core while the LG G5 has a 2.1GHz quad-core processor, both of
the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 series. The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a lesser RAM of 3GB while the LG G5 flies higher with a 4GB RAM.

Internal storageBoth come with an internal storage of 32GB but the Xiaomi doesn't have any Expandable storage whereas the LG G5 gives you a microSD slot which can hold upto 2000 GB off data.

    Camera
The Rear cameras of both the phonees are 16-megapixel with Flash. But there is a difference in the Front camera which is only 4-Ultrapixel in the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the LG G5 does better with an 8-megapixel one.

SensorsBoth the phones maintain the standard sets of sensors, but the Barometer goes missing in the LG G5 model.

PricingLG G5 is Rs. 51999 and Xiaomi Mi 5 is Rs. 24999. And there the comparison takes a bold turn where you get almost all the features in place and it asks you half the rate of the other. So unless it is the LG brand which allures you, the winner in my opinion has to be the Xiaomi Mi 5.
