Samsung has been less innovative with the next flagship. It has retained most of what was seen on the Galaxy S6. The metal and glass combination continues to have its existance. There have been a few subtle changes with a few little differences in the curved design.
LG on the other hand been much innovative with its design. It has introduced limited modularity. It has already come up with a few custom camera modules and battery packs. The options wouod be open to third party developers.

    Camera
Here again, LG has been innovative enough. It has used a dual camera setup for the rear camera. The 16 MP sensor and a 8 MP sensor make a good combination to make your images clear enough. It has another innovation under its sleeve wherin it uses wide angle lens. This ensures better camera performance.
The camera on Galaxy S7 too is quite impressive. The megapixel count has been lowered from 16 MP on Galaxy S6 to 12 MP on S7. It comes with a larger pixel size of 1.4 micron. You also have a large aperture. The optical image stabilisation makes low light shots impressive. The Galaxy S7 camera has a Dual Pixel Design. The focus is quite faster than that on LG.
The shots on S7 Edge are filled with more details than the LG G5.

    Display
LG G5 comes with 5.3 inch screen, while Galaxy S7 Edgeis a little bigger at 5.5 inch. You get a brilliant quantum HD display and Galaxy S7 is a super AMOLED display. The pixel densities measure 534 ppi on S7 edge and 554 ppi on LG G5. Finally it boils down to your personal preference of what would you prefer. Practically speaking, there isn't much of a difference.

    Hardware
Both the phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 octacore processor. Samsung may use in house Exynos processor in certain select markets. But, performance wise eithet of them are quite equivalent and robust. You get at least 32 GB internal storage on both the competitors ( Samsung has an additional variant with 64 GB storage). You can expand the memory by another 200 GB using a microSD card.

    Battery and other features
Well, LG has a battery capacity of 2800 mAh while Galaxy S7 Edge has a 3600 mAh capacity. LG gives you the option of extra battery pack ( thanks to its modular design) which provides 1200 mAh more. Both of them support quick charging.
LG G5 has the new age USB C type port, while S7 Edge stays with conventional microUSB connectivity. You get similar connectivity options like NFC, Wi Fi and Bluetooth on either of them. S7 Edge takes the lead in being a water and dust resistant. It has IP68 level certification. You can stay undamaged if your phone stays submerged in 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes. LG has not given any thought to this - obviously on account of modular design.

In conclusion, it may nkt be possible to differentiate much between the two rivals. They have almost identical functionality with a few minor differences. It will completely boil down to your personal preferences. The Galaxy S7 Edge stays a little ahead with its curved edge design and water resistance.

    Live....and Let Live!

  • The Price of LG G5 is Rs. 51999, Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge is Rs. 56,899. So you pay a 4000 bucks more to get almost the same features and performance that you get in LG.

The LG G5 has a metal body whereas the Samsung model is made of glass. If durability is one of your concerns, LG stands ahead even in this respect.

The few features that Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge model is going ahead with are the Water and Dust resistance, and an IP certification.

Even in cameras, you get a 16 megapixel one with the LG model and a 12 megapixel in the Samsung. Same with the front camera, where 8 megapixel is in the LG model and 5 megapixels in the Samsung.

The 4096 MB RAM is same in both, but yes a 64 GB internal storage is more in Samsung in compared to a 32 GB one in LG. The battery also gets lower in LG with a 2800 mAh than the 3600 mAh in Samsung.

The Processors however does make the difference distinct. The system chip of LG comes is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 MSM8996 and the Samsung has an Exynos 8 Octa 8890 one.
The LG runs on a Quad-core, 2200 MHz, Kryo, 64-bit processor while the Samsung is powered by an Octa-core, 2300 MHz, Exynos M1 and ARM Cortex-A53 , 64-bit one. The Graphics processor in LG is Adreno 530 and in Samsung it is ARM Mali-T880MP14.

As per user rating both are strong competitors but if you ask for an honest opinion, I go for LG G5 this time over the Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge model.
