Huawei is launching the Honor 5X at a special event in Delhi. The phone is likely to be released on 28th January.
Honor is the sub brand of Huawei. The Honor 5X has already been released in the US market. India launch will be held on January 28. The smartphone sports a 5.5 inch dispaly at a full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The screen has an amazing pixel density of 401 ppi. Physical.dimensions of the smartphone read 151.30 x 76.30 x 8.20 mm and it weighs a heavier 158 grams. The device will be available in White, Black and Gold color options.
The phone has a metallic build. It has been touted as the most affordable metal smartphone.
The new entrant of the block will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 Octa-Core processor. The clock speed of the processor is an awesome 1.5 GHz. Graphics are handled by Adreno 405 GPU. The smartphone will carry an onboard RAM of 2 GB. The RAM appears to be quite a bit on the lower side with many devices coming with 3 or 4 GB of RAM. It features an internal storage of 16 GB.You can expand it by another 128 GB using a microSD card. The smartphone will have a fingerprint scanner.
As for the camera buffs, you get a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. The quality of the camera is stated to be not upto the mark.
The Honor 5X runs on Android Lollipop 5.1. The customisation is provided by Emotions UI 3.1. Huawei has been drawing flak for its fancy UI which changes the native Android experience completely.
As for connectivity, it will offer dual SIM functionality with support for nano SIM. It has 4G connectivity and supports Indian bands. Other regular connectivity features like Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS do exist. There is no word on USB OTG functionality as yet. The smartphone has ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and accelerometer.
True to the tradition, Honor 5X offers you a huge battery capacity. It packs in a 3000 mAh removable battery. Exact ratings will be available at the launch event. The device has Quick Charge technology.
Exact pricing has not yet been revealed. Huawei has partnered with Flipkart for the exclusive sale of the device. Looking at the competitors, we may expect a price between Rs. 10000 to Rs. 15000.
