  • How to close documents and windows when the cursor hangs?

Does the cursor on your computer screen hang and cause trouble? Read this thread to learn about best ways to close documents and windows when the cursor hangs.

In an earlier query, I wanted to know about causes and preventive measures for a hanging cursor. Now I would like to know whether there is any way to close a file, folder or window or do functions usually done by the cursor when it hangs. Basically I thus want to know how to work without the cursor. Please provide step by step guidance for easy understanding.

  • You can use keyboard to close or open any task or window program. You need to use Tab button very frequently to do this task.

If mouse cursor hangs during working, only way is to unplug the USB mouse (I have experienced this type of cursor hangs and that to with USB mouse only). and plug it again.

Last option is to give some time say, 5 minutes which allows the inside process to stop and your curor might appear and moves. If this does not work, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open task manager and close the program by Keyboard Tab keys.

  • When cursor hangs then only option to close the windows is using the shortkey - ALT+F4. In order to move the cursor then you have to use the shift key option to get the window to be active again. It works if the entire machine is not hanging. So you have to use this shortcut for closing the documents and windows. Also if cursor continues to hang then you have to also check nums lock key if the entire systems hang. If possible you can open task manager and check which program or services making your cursor or system hang.

  • Its very simple. You can just close documents and windows by the help of your keyboard. You can just press the Alt+F4 key to close everything running on your desktop. If that doesn't work press and hold the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open up the Task manager, then just use your up and down keys to navigate and just head over to the application which you wants to close. Then just press the key for right click from your keyboard which is the another one from the Windows key. Then head over to End task and then press enter. Your application will be closed successfully.

I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

  • In such condition, you can use keyboard shortcuts to close the currently running programs and windows :

    1. Press Alt+F4 to suddenly close the current window.

    2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open task manager. From there, you can close all the running programs one by one.
