  • If you go into the details, then you get a little bit of things more in Yu Yuphoria than Xiaomi Redmi 2. For instance you get a 5 inch display in the first one instead of 4.7 that you get in the latter.
The RAM is also 2GB in Yuphoria, whereas it is only 1GB in the Redmi 2.
The battery is 2230 mAh in Yuphoria, whereas you get only 2300 mAh in Xiaomi Redmi 2.
If you are going for looks, then there is nothing to catch, as both look almost the same.
But when we compare, we do look at what we get at the same price, and there Micromax leads ahead, but if you trust more on quality Xiaomi might stand steadier than the Micromax.
In my personal opinion, I had some not so good experience with the Micromax, so I would have gone for Redmi this time.

  • Well it's very tough to choose between Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Micromax Yu Yuphoria, both the phones are priced same Rs. 6,999. Specification wise let me go by detail.

    Xiaomi Redmi 2:
Display: 4.7" IPS LCD Capacitive screen at 720p resolution with 312ppi.
Processor: Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 1.2Ghz quad core Cortex A53.
    Memory: (i)8GB with 1GB RAM (ii)16GB with 2GB RAM.
Camera: 8MP rear camera and 5MP front facing camera.
    Sim: Dual sim
    Operating System: Android 4.4 Kitkat
    Battery: Li-Po 2200 mAh

    Yu Yuphoria:
Display: 5" IPS LCD Capacitive screen at 720p resolution with 294ppi.
Processor: Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 1.2Ghz quad core Cortex A53.

Camera: 8MP rear camera and 5MP front facing camera.
    Sim: Dual sim.

  • Here is a comparative analysis between Xiaomi RedMi 2 and Yu Yuphoria based on specifications and user reviews -

    Design and Display
Screen and comfortability in handling are the fundamental aspects of a smartphone. Yuphoria sports a 5 inch screen while RedMi 2 flaunts a 4.7 inch one. Both feature 720p HD resolution. The devices share a common IPS LCD screen. However, Yuphoria has the latest Gorilla Glass 3 protection, but RedMi 2 has the previous Gorilla Glass 2.
RedMi 2 has been found to produce better color reproduction and the display has an edge over Yuphoria. In terms of size, Yuphoria measures 142.38 x 72.96 x 8.25mm as opposed to 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm of RedMi 2. The Yuphoria carries a metal frame that gives it a premium look.
My Take - Yuphoria takes the lead here in terms of looks and new features, yet display quality on RedMi 2 looks great.

    Hardware

Both of them are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 octacore processors. Being 64 Bit processor, Snapdragon 410 ensures that these phones are future ready. RedMi 2 comes with 8 GB internal.storage while Yuphoria carries a good 16 GB. Also RedMi 2 falls short off Yuphoria in terms of processing because it just carries 1 GB RAM compared to 2 GB on Yuphoria. Adreno 306 takes care of graphics needs on both the devices. RedMi 2 has one advantage over Yuphoria as Micromax has not included USB OTG support on it while RedMi 2 supports OTG. Both the phones have expandable memory slots with support up to 32 GB.

    Camera
You can find 8 MP rear camera on both of them. Either of them boast of wider aperture and 1080p HD video recording . However, camera quality appears better on RedMi 2. The camera app on Cyanogen OS does not seem to be impressive. RedMi 2 is a great performer in camera department.
Yuphoria carries a 5 MP shooter on the front. Yuphoria takes the lead in its ability to click better selfies. RedMi 2 has a 2 MP camera on the front.

    Software
RedMi 2 runs Android Kitkat 4.4.4 out of the box. It will be updated to Lollipop as has been stated by Xiaomi. The customisation on top with MiUI 6 appears a bit heavy. Yuphoria runs on Cyanogen OS 12 S based on Android Lollipop. Cyanogen is the best software out there with a host of customisation abilities.

    Battery and other features

RedMi 2 has a 2200 mAh battery while that on Yuphoria is rated at 2000 mAh.

    Live....and Let Live!

  • One of my friend owns Yuphoria and he doesn't have much good performance in terms of the RAM. So I asked my sister who owns Redmi 2S. Only issue seems to be with the battery drain. In case of the dual sim most of the phones drain battery quickly. So this phone is no exception. It also gets more draining in terms of the battery life. Also redmi 2S and Note are 6 months off the market launch, so we are getting older phone in terms of specifications. I suggest going with Yuphoria, if you are conscious of specs and battery performance.
