According to me, one should always write for common Internet search keywords which fetch more traffics. But you should always come out of masses by writing genuine content that stick visitors to your site. People normally search for banking, insurance, job, travel and technology troubleshooting and there are plenty of website for these topics.

To come out of this crowd of websites, you should have genuine content that attracts visitors to come again to your website, should join your site as follower and always ready to post response to comments to your blogs. This will built up reputation of your blog and have relation between site owner and visitors.

I would like to suggest you to write on the trending topics as they are searched my many of the people on Internet so as to know about them. And you must take care of your interest rather than thinking to fetch the traffic. If you write according to your interest then you will surely get great traffic.

As far as my knowledge goes, there is no topic that drives traffic to your website. Whatever be the topic, what matters Is how you present it. Let me list out a few tips on this aspect -

1. Concentrate on "How To" guides and Tutorial

We normally search Internet when we are struck with something. That is why the how to guides and tutorials undoubtedly fetch more traffic than any other genre. Whenever a visitor has an issue , he expects to the get a step by step guide to solve his problem.
Some bloggers feel this kind of a blog will expose their business. Nothing to worry here. A 3 minute video will not risk you anything. Such posts establish you as an expert in the concerned field.

2. Make use of lists in your blog

Post your information in a listed view. This approach will be helpful in getting the required information in an easier way. This is one of the effective ways of getting more traffic. Rather than trying some most searched topics, you should give importance to the topics which you're mastered at. If you try to build a site with contents including just most searched terms, you will usually attacked by copyright issues. Seasonal topics get the traffic. For example, writing on Christmas will get you a lot of traffic during December and January.
