Asus has announced that the Zenfone 2 will be released in India on April, 23. The specifications are as follows-
Design and Feel
With physical dimensions of 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9 mm, the device weighs 170 grams. The design differs from the previous models. One of the noticeable changes is the Volume key which has been moved to the back of the device. The removable rear cover has a brushed metal finish – a change from the matte finish observed in the older models. Power button has been shifted from right to the top.
Display
It has a 5.5 inch IPS touchscreen. The screen sports a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels at a pixel density of 4.3 ppi.The device has Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Hardware
The phone is powered by Intel Atom Z3580 quadcore processor at 2.3 GHz clock speed for the 4 GB RAM model and Intel Atom Z3560 quadcore processor at 1.8 GHz speed. for the 2 GB RAM model. The graphics are taken care of by PowerVR G6430 GPU. The device will come in three storage variants of 16,32 and 64 GB versions. However, the 64 GB version may not be launched in India. It also has a expandable memory card slot with support upto 64 GB.
Camera
The device carries a 13 MP auto focus rear camera with dual LED flash. The camera features include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. It can support a resolution of 4128x3096 . The camera is capable of HD video recording at 1080p. There is also a 5 MP front camera for selfies and videochatting.
Software
The phone runs on Android Lollipop with customisation by ZenUI. There are a plenty of Asus proprietary apps preinstalled.
Other features
The device support dual SIM functionality with dual standby. Further connectivity features of the device include WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, FM radio and microUSB 2.0. The sensors on the device include Accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor and compass. The device, however, has no support for Java. Battery capacity of the device is 3000 mAh. No data has been released by Asus about the stand by and talktime.
Price and availability
The phone is scheduled for a April, 23 launch in India. It will come in three variants, though the 64 GB version quite unlikely. The estimated price of the high end model is expected to be around Rs. 20000.
