Though it has a few drawbacks, the Asus X205TA has a good potential of being better for business use. Given its price, it can be treated as one of the best in its category. Let me delve into a bit of detailed analysis to let you assess its suitability for you.
Design
It measures 11.2 x 7.6 x 0.6 inches and under 2 pounds weight. Keeping the ports at minimum level, Asus has provided two USB 2.0 ports, a microSD card reader, micro HDMI port and a combined headphone/mic jack. Being a light weight device, it would the best companion without adding much weight to your luggage.
Keyboard
Though it is a budget notebook, quality of the keyboard has not been compromised. It has well spaced keys with a good-looking matte finish. Keys are a little deeper which may make long typing sessions uncomfortable. With the keyboard size being small, people with bigger fingers may find it a little tough to type.
The touchpad – at 4.1x2.45 inches, is quite bigger for the smaller system and comfortable too. However, there are issues with multi-finger scrolling.
Display
Sporting an 11 inch 1366x768 resolution is quite vibrant in performance. One must agree that it has one of the best display in the price range. However, color accuracy is a bit on a lower side.
Performance
Powered by 1.33-GHz Intel Atom processor, it has 2GB of RAM, it is quite faster for day to day tasks. Though it is good at emailing and MS Office, it falters at more intensive tasks. The device comes with a 32 GB flash storage.
Graphics
It is equipped with Intel HD graphics. The graphics performance is better suited for casual games, but graphics intensive games it faces heavy stuttering.
Battery
The notebook provides a whopping 12 hours of battery life on a single charge, involving continuous web browsing on WiFi. In terms of battery life, it beats HP Stream11, Acer V3-111P and Acer Chromebook which have almost half of this battery life.
Software
With Windows 8.1 pre-installed, it has not many useless extra apps. MS Office and Skype come pre-installed. It also comes with one year free subscription to Microsoft Office 365. Further, you will also get 1 TB storage on OneDrive for one year and an additional 500 GB storage via Asus Webstore.
Price
The notebook is available for Rs. 14999 on Flipkart. The MS Office 365 and One Drive offers have to be activated within 6 months of the purchase.
What I Think?
This should be one of the best low budget notebooks. The extra-ordinary battery life and a good display are the compelling points in its favour. Only drawbacks that are significant are the touchpad and webcam.
