  • Here is a comparison based on key points between the Yamaha FZ V 2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer -

    Design

Lookwise Gixxer has been treated as the most appealing bike. The metallic Titan Blue body of Gixxer appears more elegant than the "Moon Wlk White " finish of FZ V 2.0. The Gixxer looks sporty with stylish six spoke alloy wheels and chrome finished dual exhaust. However, Yamaha stands apart from the rest with its signature body design and aggressive styling. I would treat Suzuki to be more contemporary than the FZ.

    Engine and Gearbox

Gixxer has 155cc air cooled engine that is a bit punchy in delivering power. The 149cc single cylinder engine on the Yamaha is refined and modern. Gixxer develops 14.8 bhp while yamaha is a bit down to 12.9bhp. Fuel injection on FS-Z is standard and thus the bike has smooth and free of engine vibration. Gixxer on the other hand injects fuel via carburetor and this gives rise to engine getting buzzy.
As for the gearbox, the five speed unit on Suzuki is more powerful than that on Yamaha. On the basis of performance Suzuki is a capable motorcycle.

    Handling

It is quite difficult to choose the one with better handling. Based on engine and gearbox, Suzuki has better impression, but both are equally good in terms riding and handling.

    The Choice

From a fun and premium perspective, both these bikes will not disappoint. Both of them have sporty handling and affordable running costs. Suzuki has an upper edge with its lower ex- showroom price at Rs. 76400 while FZ costs Rs. 82600. Gixxer is more rewarding to ride.
