  • How can we hide new user menu in Chrome 39 browser?

Learn more about how to hide user menu in the new Google Chrome browser

Google Chrome is one of the most widely used browsers across the world. One thing that clearly stands out with Google Chrome browser is the ability to create a separate account profile to password-protect all our data like browsing history, cache, saved passwords, etc. As you might already be aware, the new user menu button gets displayed right at the top of the Chrome browser on the left side of the minimize option. I read somewhere that we can hide this user menu option i.e. hide this new Chrome user profile option in Chrome v39 to ensure that any third person using the same browser doesn't come to know about our browser being protected by a separate account. Please let me know how should we hide this user menu button in Chrome 39 browser?

  • As of now, Google has not provided any method to hide this option. However, there is a workaround that can be used to Disable this feature. Hope it will help you.
Please note that the user switching cannot be hidden, only way is to disable it. The trick is available from within Chrome itself. Follow the next steps-
  • Type chrome://flags in the address bar.
  • Find Enable New Profile Management System.
  • This option is set to Default by Chrome. Select "Disable" from drop down list.
  • Restart Chrome, and if needed reboot your PC. ( not necessarily). You are welcomed with the older options back. If, however, you need the switching enabled, you can get it back by following same steps.

  • Please note once again that there is no way to hide the profile menu, only way is to disable it. Refer to this Google forum where the person from the team has confirmed to it.
