    Download Spartan Browser

Spartan is the code name for the new browser from Microsoft. According to the rumors, this will be a brand new browser, which is expected to be light weight, fast and will look like Google Chrome and Firefox. Microsoft hasn't confirmed the rumours yet.

I heard that Microsoft is releasing a new browser called "Spartan". Is this available for download? Where can I download it? Is it free?

  • Yes, you've correctly heard about that a new browser is to be expected from Microsoft. The new browser will come bundled with Microsoft Windows 10. Microsoft has not yet revealed a lot about the browser but we can expect that on 21st Jan we will get some more news about the browser of Windows 10 by the means of a press event which is going to held at Microsoft Campus.

The browser is not available for download this time.

  • Spartan web browser will not be available as a download I think. But would rather be shipped with Windows 10. According to ZDNet's sources it will be more on the lines of Firefox and Chrome than being like Internet Explorer. The reason why it is not present in the Technical Preview of Windows 10 would be that they are making Spartan from the scratch which makes it a hot feature to look forward to in Windows 10 stable version.

There is also news that rather than using the common WebKit for development of this browser, Microsoft will be using its own Chakra JavaScript and Trident engines.

I believe IE won't be shelved completely and rather the OS would have both the browsers. The reason for this being that there would be a lot of compatibility issues for businesses which make use of IE exclusively for the intranet websites and services.

Also, 'Spartan' just might be a codename for product and it might released with a different name in the final release.

  • The new browser from Microsoft will come bundled with Windows 10.This new browser is said to be replacing Internet Explorer.
Spartan is expected to run different browsers inside it.That means , if you have Chrome , Firefox and Opera installed in your system ,you will be able to display a webpage on a maximum 4 browsers in a single window.
However-according to reports- Spartan will not replace IE. In fact , Windows 10 is supposed to have two browsers- current Internet Explorer 11 for backward compatibility and new lightweight spartan.
No plans seem to be underway to provide it as as a separate download. You will need to upgrade to Windows 10 to get a taste of it , at least as of now.

    Live....and Let Live!

  • Microsoft hasn't made any official statements regarding the availability of Spartan browser as a standalone installer for Windows 7 or Windows 8. However, most experts believe it will be available for standalone installation at a later stage. As of now, it is expected to come as part of the next release of Windows 10.
