Windows Phone 8 or Android phone - which is better for personal use

Windows Phone 8 or Android - which is better? Many of us have this question. Let us see how the experts compare both. Choose the best option for you after understanding the pros and cons of both the devices.

I am looking for a new phone for myself and my wife. I have been an iPhone user for a long time but this time we want to try something else. We found many cool Windows Phone 8 devices like Nokia Lumia 920. And there are many fantastic Android phones as well, with too many options to choose from.

Can the experts guide me on which is better - Windows Phone or Android? I don't want to change the phones every year. So, please suggest me which phone will be best for long term use. I personally prefer Android because of the availability of lot of choices but my wife is sticking to her choice (Lumia 920) and it is very difficult to convince her unless I can find something really solid to change her mind.

  • It is always a subjective choice when you have to arrive at a decision as to which phone you will like to buy, the Windows Phone or the Android phone. The experts, who make comparisons among the phones, can only give you guidance relating to the features, specifications, prices and reviews about these phones. However, the final choice of buying a phone or any other device is of the buyer. The number of quality smartphones using several popular operating systems with the same or different processors, their storage capacities, screens, designs and prices are increasing at such a speed that it makes the buyers to seek the opinion of others. There are several Android handsets, especially from Samsung like Galaxy Note II and Nexus 4, and Windows Phone 8 devices like Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8x, which make the buyers double minded whether they should buy and Android Phone or Windows Phone 8. Each manufacturer tries to give the best of the smartphone features in its product. There might be small differences here and there in the design and looks which will induce personal preferences. There might be different screen sizes and storage capacities. The battery features of the phones may also differ. But the main feature which influences the mind of the buyer is the price tag of the smartphone. Think of making comparison between the contract deal and the lifetime cost of the phone you buy.

Both the Android and Windows Phone 8 are the good choices to select when buying a smartphone. But you must keep in mind that you need to replace the apps when moving from one platform to another and this might add to costs of your buying a phone.

Remember that if you are moving from one platform to another you will have to replace the apps you use, which will add additional cost to your purchase. In most cases – and especially when moving to Android – you should have no problem moving across music and movies.
When buying an Android smartphone, always check on the version of Android. Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note II and Samsung Nexus 4 run the latest Android OS Jelly Bean. Handsets like Sony Xperia T and HTC Desire X use the earlier OS Ice Cream Sandwich. The modern buyer is mostly concerned with the major apps and Android offers a lot of customization in this respect.

Windows Phone 8 is also available in variety of handsets. Windows Phone 8 handsets have great looks and are easy to use. With strict minimum specifications the Windows Phone 8 handsets provide a slick performance. Whether you like it or not, Windows Phone 8 feeds all email and social messaging into a single unified pane. Leave aside looks, storage capacity and camera features, all new Windows Phones are the same. Some people do love buying Windows Phones while some others like to buy an Android phone. Both the platforms are good but the buying one or the other is a personal choice.

  • Finalizing answer for such a question is a bit difficult, but comparison can be done. The best released Windows Phone are highly built and are also high quality product. Nokia, HTC and Samsung are some of the companies related to it.
But on the other side Android phones have a great demand in the market than Windows phone. Samsung Galaxy SIII, Galaxy NoteII are some of the best Android phones.
Apart from its market value it can also be differentiated via its apps, looking onto Windows phone they have a total of 100,000 apps and half of them are written for windows 7. But till date Android phones have a total of 700,000 apps on Google play which is much greater than that of Windows phone.
But Windows phone are much more known one. It is good in handling and have some brilliant features for kids. And the phone becomes child friendly too.

  • If you are a gamer, the best choice is Android. It has lot of applications and games. But in the case of windows phone, it has less number of games and applications. Other wise best choice is windows phone. When security is considered, windows phone provides more security than Android. In my experience, Android devices eat your battery. But Windows phone provides more battery life. If I have a choice, I definitely choose Nokia Lumia phone. I am a fan of Nokia. I used around 7 Nokia phones, especially Symbian devices. I usually update firmwares, crack apps etc and I found no problem. Also, I am a rough user. My phones fell down several times but no breakages. If you use mobiles carefully, you can choose Android phone. Now choice is yours.

  • Hello,
If you have asked the same question 2-3 years back, my answer would definitely be definitely "ANDROID".
But in the recent years, Windows has improved a lot. It has added a lot of applications for use. The new Windows 8 is more powerful and impressive than its predecessors.
But today its a tie between them. And nowadays market is flooded with Android and Windows handsets so you will have a variety of range to choose from.

  • Hi,
Both the windows and Android mobiles have their different tasks in mobile. Windows mobile comes in big screen with lots of functions. The look and color attracts people lot. The apps which comes new in the windows mobiles are different and attractiveness. If you take Lumina family there were lot of mobile models released. Everything is similar in one thing. That is Windows mobiles. The size, clarity, variety, apps, sound system, users use, attractiveness, like all these makes the mobile on top more position. That is why your wife got stick with the mobile.

If you take Android mobiles, the applications became bigger part of it. Android changes the market productivity over mobile phones. That brings the change in mobile phones. The look, lot of application in play store, transparency, and technology made the Android mobile phones top in their position. This was the mobile technology changes the world in hand. What you like in Android was not ever last than anything. Even I am using Android mobile only. It gives better life for you.

According to me both Android mobiles and Windows mobiles are good in nature. My feel is you try to buy android mobile and you present Windows mobile to your wife. Both of them enjoy with the two new technologies.
