RHCE certification course, exam fee & salary in India

Are you going to prepare for RHCE examination? Want to know the details about RHCE in Red Hat certification. In this article I have covered information about RHCE certificate such as exam fee, course fee. Are you eager to know the salary for freshers who earned RHCE certificate? Read the article below to know more.

RHCE - It is Red Hat Certified Engineer which trains you skills such as system administration and configuring a server. To do this certification you should earn Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certificate. It is the second level in Red Hat certification program. This certification teaches you how to configure a server. If you are interested to enter IT sector without programming skill, RHCE certification is one of the best way. There are several centers that train RHCE course in India, but make sure that you have joined an authorized center. You can check those details in Red Hat official website.

Fee

RHCE fee for training may vary at each center. I paid Rs.7500 as training fee, actually it was during an offer period. Currently RHCE training fee in my center is Rs.15,000. RHCE training period is 2 months and within this you can get expertise in this field. Exam fee is Rs.10,500 with one attempt free.

Tuition fee - Rs. 15,000
Exam fee - Rs.10,500 with one attempt free.
Exam fee also vary slightly. All the above details I mentioned is for Red Hat 6.

Examination

RHCE exam is not a theoretical examination. This examination will be similar to your practical exams. A score of 210 out 300 will be considered as pass. There will be totally 20 questions and the exam evaluation is completely different. You will be in trouble even if you leave even a single question unanswered. Everyone student will have different opinions in this exam. RHCE exam will be easier than RHCSA exam but many students fail this exam for silly reasons.

Certificate validity

RHCE certification validity is 3 years or valid till the next Red Hat version release,. Suppose Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 has released then you need redo the certification. So, once you earn RHCE certificate you should enter a job in this domain and gain experience.

Salary

Salary for a fresher with RHCE certificate will be Rs.10,000 to Rs.25,000 per month. If you have 3 years experience you can earn above Rs.25,000 per month. This certificate has a great demand in foreign countries too. In countries like USA, UK, Australia and China this course has a high demand.

My exam experience

I did my RHCE certification exam on January 2013. Results will be published on the same day of your exam. You have to write RHCSA and RHCE on the same day. My exam started at 10:00 AM and completed by 3:00 PM. After completing my exam I felt that I did my RHCE well and RHCSA worst. I discussed my exam performance with my trainer. Then I left to my home. I checked my result at 1:00 AM (night), I felt happy when I saw that I passed in RHCSA but I was shocked to see that I failed in RHCE. The mail I got is,

"The results of your EX300 Exam are reported below.
Passing score for the exam: 210.0
Your score: 208
Result: NO PASS

You did not pass the EX300 Exam on this attempt. We hope that you will attempt the exam again after further practice and preparation."
I wrote the exam for the second time on February 2013. Unfortunately I failed in my second attempt too. I scored 208 marks and failed by just two marks. On that day I felt very sad and searched as "RHCE fail" in Google.

Common mistakes in RHCE exam

Usually everyone will repeat a common mistake in this exam. Here I have given some common mistakes in RHCE which were said by my trainee and also according to my own experience.

1. Don't forget to reboot after completing all your questions.
2. Don't forget to run "chkconfig on" and "service start" command.
3. Do only what is given in the question. Don't act smart and do extra things.
4. Try to complete a question in single attempt.
5. Reboot wherever necessary.
6. Spend more time on guidelines.

So when you gave your exam the second time, you again had to pay the fee of Rs. 10,500/-?? If one fails the exam, don't they get a job based on the training? Does the job comes only when we have the certification in hand?

Not like that Swa45t but preference will be given to the certified students

I had an offer. Using the offer I can write second attempt for free. I failed in second attempt too. You need to have skills that is enough. I got selected by answering Linux questions.

With certificate you get OPPORTUNITY not job. You get more interview calls if you have certificate.

Hi Ratheesh,

I am a student of 2nd year of computer engineering. I have completed 3 years of diploma from the same branch. I would like to give exams of RHCE(SA1) exam. I think I don't need any training and can prepare for this exam on my own. So is it possible to give the exam without taking any training from any institute? Also, what is the fee of exam of this course without including training fee?
