Site does not comply with Google policies - AdSense Application Disapproved

Did you recently applied for Google AdSense account and it was rejected with the reason - Site does not comply with Google policies? Let us discuss the solution to get your AdSense approved.

Google introduced AdSense network sometime in year 2003 and I am one of the early adopters of this advertising system. I have been very happy with the system and the way it works. However, many new bloggers and webmasters are finding it very difficult to get in to the AdSense system. Google has been very strict on reviewing the websites for quality and adherence to the AdSense policies. They even went live with a Limited AdSense Accounts for Host Partner Sites in order to further improve the quality of their Ad network.

If your account is just disabled, do not rush with an appeal. Read some tips on how to appeal effectively to increase the chances of getting your account back.

Let us come back to the subject. One of the primary reasons why Google reject many AdSense applications is, the site does not comply with Google Policies. When the application is submitted, Google will do a manual review of the site on which the AdSense will be used. If they find the website violate some of their policies, they will respond with a message which look like this:

Issues:

Site does not comply with Google policies

Further detail:

Site does not comply with Google policies: We're unable to approve your AdSense application at this time because we feel that your site does not comply with Google AdSense policies or webmaster quality guidelines. It's our goal to provide our advertisers sites that offer rich and meaningful content, receive organic traffic, and allow us to serve well-targeted ads to users. We believe that currently your site does not fulfill this criteria.

Let us analyze why Google reject applications with this reason. Google wants to make sure the AdSense Ads are displayed only on sites that meet certain quality criteria to make sure the overall quality of its ad network is not affected by some low quality sites.

How to comply with AdSense policies and get your AdSense application approved

The solution to this problem may be different for different sites. To get your AdSense application approved, first thing you need to take care is, don't rush with an appeal. Take a few weeks to analyze your site and check what may have gone wrong. Google does not tell you exactly what is the reason for disapproval but a careful analysis by yourself can tell you what is wrong with your site.

Here is a checklist which you can use to inspect your site and look for Google AdSense policy compliance:

  • Do you have too many other Ads? Your website may not look very impressive to Adsense reviewers when your site is filled with Ads. After all, it won't give a good user experience when there are more ads than content. Reduce the number of ads or completely remove third party Ads before you appeal your AdSense application rejection.

  • Your site should have original content. Have you reproduced any articles, images or other resources from other sources? Remove them all and make sure what you have in your site is your own original content. Most people think taking images from Google search results is fine, but that is not the case.

  • Did many other sites copied your content? Google may misunderstand that you copied from others. So, file DMCA complaint and get the copied content removed.

  • Does your site provide information on jailbreaking, hacking, pornography, license cracking, illegal downloads, torrents, gossips etc? Google is not very keen on such content and it is better you get rid of them to impress the Google reviewers.

  • Is your site too new? Wait atleast 6 months before you apply for AdSense since that is one of the requirements for getting AdSense approved in some countries like India and China.

  • What is your source of traffic? If majority of your traffic is not organic, you may have a tough time getting an AdSense application approved. Try doing some SEO and online marketing to improve your organic traffic. Or, wait until your website or blog start getting some natural traffic. Also, to comply with AdSense policies, your site should not be receiving traffic from sources like paid-to-click programs, spammy bulk emails etc

  • Do you use lot of frames and iFrames in your webpages? As per Google terms and conditions, you cannot place AdSense Ads within frames. If they see lot of frames your website, they may not approve your applications and you might end up getting the reason "Site does not comply with Google policies"

  • Does your site have a privacy policy? Google requirea you to have a privacy policy for your site that discloses that "third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your users' browsers, or using web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving on your website.". If you don't have a privacy policy for your site, create one and link to the page from the bottom of all pages of your site.

  • Do you have an "About Us" page? If not, you should add one and explain the people/organization behind the website. Google does not like to deal with anonymous webmasters. Include your photo, give an office address with some contact information to add credibility to your website.

  • Is there an option to contact the blogger/webmaster? Add some contact information either in the form of phone number/email/address or provide a Form to contact.

  • How much traffic your website receive? I have seen people complaining that my AdSense application was rejected even though my blog is popular and receive 100 visitors per day. Please understand that Google wants to do business only with serious webmasters and bloggers. Just 100 or 1000 visitors per day is not a significant number for Google to offer its AdSense services. I recommend you wait until your website start receiving a few thousand visitors per day before you resubmit your application.

  • Are you involved in lot of link building through blog commenting and submitting to hundreds of directories? Google likes to see natural links and any attempts to improve your sites ranking with the help of unnatural links will be considered as link spam. Try sticking to the organic SEO and focus on your readers instead of search engines.

  • You can read the complete AdSense Program Policies and make sure your site comply with all the requirements.

One of the important things to note is, don't hurry to submit an appeal as soon as you make one or two changes. Instead, spend several days going through various pages of your site and also checking against the AdSense policies and make sure your site comply with each and every requirement.

My site complies with all AdSense policies, but still disapproved

This is one of the common complaints from many publishers. Their application was rejected by Google even though they believe their site fully meets all policy requirements. There are many possibilities:

    1. Google reviewers may have misunderstood some aspects of your site and thought you are in violation of some policies.

    2. Google reviewers may have found some violations that you may have missed.

    3. If you are participating in revenue sharing sites like Techulator, IndiaStudyChannel etc, the host site may have certain violations that is beyond your control to resolve.

    4. Google may have some reasons to disapprove your application but they don't want to tell you the exact reason, so chose to give a very generic reason. One of the possibilities is, you may have had another AdSense account in the past which was disapproved later. Google does not allow anyone to have another AdSense account if one account was disapproved in the past. In this case, your only option is to depend on someone else to apply for an AdSense account and you use his account with his permission to monetize your online inventory. You may have to make some arrangements to receive revenue from the other person who own the AdSense account.

If you find it impossible to get into this program, you may want to consider AdSense alternatives like Yahoo Bing Network. You may read this article to compare Yahoo Bing Ads with Google Ads.

Here is a checklist you can use to check if your blog meets AdSense requirements. If your application is rejected once, take some extra efforts and make sure your site comply with all AdSense policy requirements.

If your AdSense application was ever disapproved with the reason "Site does not comply with Google policies", please share your experience. Also, read my blogging tips series to make the best out of your blog.

I must say it is a very good articles for those who are aspiring to get their Google AdSense approved. It has listed almost all the steps that you should follow before you apply for AdSense but I will like to add one more point which I really feels do help to some extent in getting AdSense approval. You must have a contact us page for your blog or your site as this page shows that you are willing to help your visitors with any problem that they may face in between reading contents of your site. This caring nature I believe can put a impression of your's as a really helpful blogger and not just one who writes for money.

    Hi,

It is wonderful information. I am facing the same problem. I have 6 month old blog with around 1000+ daily visitors. But still not getting approval. Can you guide on this matter? My blog URL is www.basunivesh.com. Reason they put forth is as below.
    Further detail:
Site does not comply with Google policies: We're unable to approve your AdSense application at this time because your site does not comply with the Google AdSense program policies (http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=48182,https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/topic.py?topic=1271507) or adhere to the Webmaster Quality guidelines (http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769). It's our goal to provide our advertisers sites that offer rich and meaningful content, receive organic traffic, and allow us to serve well-targeted ads to users. We believe that currently your site does not fulfill this criteria.

    Tips:
Here are some recommendations to help you improve the user experience on your site and comply with AdSense criteria:
    - It’s important for sites displaying Google ads to offer significant value to the user. As a publisher, you must provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.
    - Don’t place ads on auto-generated pages or pages with little to no original content.
    - Your site should also provide a good user experience through clear navigation and organization. Users should be able to easily click through your pages and find the information they’re seeking.

Please refer to the Webmaster Quality guidelines for more help on how to provide a positive experience for your users.

As soon as you’ve made the necessary changes, we’ll be happy to take another look at your application.

    Basavaraj,

I took a look at your blog and here is what I can think of:

    1. Your website has placed the About Us, Contact Us, Privacy Policy and Terms of Use in the top navigation. Move them down to the bottom of the site since that is where Google reviewers would probably look for it. In the top navigation, use categories.

    2. Your home page banner is a person name, I think. Replace it with something relevant for the theme of your blog.

    3. Add a favicon to the blog.

    4. I found some reproduced content on your website (Search for "Let us look at the reasons behind the origin of A Khata and B Khata lands. In 2007, those"). This will definitely cause problems with Google.

On a first look, your blog appears to be a personal home page. That may not give a good impression. Give it a professional banner, logo and tag line.

Overall, your blog looks good and in my opinion, it should qualify if you make few tweaks to impress the reviewer.

(Wait atleast 1 month before you submit an appeal to increase your chances of approval on second attempt)

Tony John-Thanks for your feedback. I am non technical person. Hence I have few doubts on the issues you raised.
    1) I am using WP theme where I am unable to place About Us, Privacy Policy and Terms of Use in below navigation. Categories, I need to work.
    2) You mean to say "BasuNivesh" logo or name I need to replace?
    3) What do you mean by favicon? Can you please elaborate on this?
    4) How to get professional touch to my blog? Can you guide me?
    5) How to make tweaks to impress the reviewer?

Author: Tony John18 Dec 2012 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 3

    Basavaraj,

I am not a Wordpress expert and you probably need to ask in our forum on how to tweak your Wordpress theme.

In my opinion, if you are trying to make a professional blog, you should probably choose a professional name rather than a person's name for the blog. It will create a poor impression when someone see a name, unless you yourself are a very popular person.

Remaining tech questions, I suggest you ask them in our forum and we will help you there.

Hi, Tony John. What if it's a gaming YouTube channel that you're trying to get approved? I was invited to partner with a big network but in order to get paid, I have to get an approved Adsense account. I know that games are copyrighted, but allowed if you're doing walkthroughs, tips and tricks, etc, as long as you don't mess with the music and specifically narrate what's going on in the game. If you want to check it out and give advice, I'd appreciate it. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheCoedGamer

Author: Tony John11 Feb 2013 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 4

    Lenny,

Thanks for stopping by. The same rule apply for AdSense applications through any site. It could be a Host Partner Site like YouTube, Blogger or your own blog. Google will approve an application if they see value in associating with you. If you come up with valuable content (articles, videos etc), Google will accept you to the program. Nothing wrong in using screenshots and short extracts from the games as long as it is used for the purpose of training, tutorials, walkthroughs etc. However, providing cracks, cheats, tricks etc may not be entertained since that is not in the best interests of the game developers.

One suggestion I have is, you don't have many videos there. Google may want to see many more videos before they can conclude that you will be a valuable video partner or not.

Did you already apply for AdSense?

    Guest Author: Lenny12 Feb 2013

Thanks for responding! :) I did apply for it already. They said it doesn't comply with Google policies. I figured it was either that I only have 15 videos, only 287 subscribers, only 50,000 views, or that I started it only 4 months ago. Lol. I will try to beef that up a bit more. I just got excited.

    Thanks again,
    Lenny

    Riya,

I took a lookt your blog TeenBookGuru.com. Here are couple of suggestions:

    1. You have a caption "Young Adult Book Review Blog". THe word "Adult" may raise red flag to reviewers from Google, unless they read the blog in details. So, you may want to remove that word from the caption while your blog is being reviewed.

    2. Your header banner is taking too much of the space. Reduce its height.

    3. You don't have a privacy policy for your blog. According to Google policies, it is mandatory to have a Privacy Policy with certain information included in it.

    4. Remove "Current Giveaways: None at the moment. Check back later!" from your pages since it looks like a blank show case.

    5. Remove your "Age" from your "About" page. You may appear to be too young for Google to work with you!

You have a great blog and keep up the good work. Wish you all the best with your AdSense application.

Author: Tony John09 Jun 2013 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 4

Vishal, I tried your blog Top10Forum.com and it is not a live site.

Deepak, I went through your blog http://websexpert.net. To be frank, the quality of articles in the blog is very poor. Many of them are very carelessly written and I doubt if Google will approve such blogs. Even though they may say the reason "Site does not comply with Google policies", the actual reason for disapproval may be the poor quality. Take some time and improve the overall quality of your articles.

I could not find any About Us, Contact Us and Privacy Policy pages, which are essential to get AdSense approval.

Author: Tony John11 Jul 2013 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 4

    Janet,

Your site has a lot of articles with keyword spamming (in terms of Google). Many of your titles are not really in proper format, instead, they are just few words (keywords), which will be considered as spamming. That may be the primary reason Google is not approving your AdSense application.

Also, please move the About Us, Contact Us, Privacy Policy etc to the bottom. They don't need to be in the top as your primary tabs.

Typically, medical blogs will be considered as authentic only if it contain authentic information and probably you are expected to have some medical background when you write about medical topics.

Author: Tony John11 Jul 2013 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 15

    Nic,

Your blog seem to have a lot of ads and poor color scheme. Please reduce some of your Ads when you apply for AdSense or remove all Ads temporarily. Also, choose a more web friendly color scheme for your blog.

    Vishal,

I took a look at http://www.reviewer.in. You have a nice domain name!

I think the primary content of your blog is pictures, which does not appear to be very appealing to Google AdSense. I think you will have to add a lot of text content and description to each photo to become eligible for AdSense.

Also, do you own the copy rights for all those pictures or are you simply getting it from various websites? If are taking it from elsewhere, that will be a violation of Google AdSense policies and you may not qualify for AdSense.

    Zeeshan Shams,

I reviewed your site www.friendlymela.com. You have a lot of keyword stuffing in your website. Example: "Friendly Mela | Pakistani Urdu Forum | Urdu Shayari | Urdu Novel | Urdu Islam"
Such use of keywords will be considered as keyword spamming. Also, your logo itself is kind of difficult to read and over-fancy. There are lot of flashy stuff in the home page. Reduce the colors and make the site more appealing to eye.

    James,

Your site http://www.ansoftsys.com/ is not really content based site. Even though you are providing a good currency converter service, Google is looking for sites with lot of articles and other text content. You may be able to get AdSense if you could add lot of text to your site. Why don't you add some articles about currency and related topics?

    Tony John-Thanks for your feedback.

    I have few doubts:
    ---------------------
    1. I have added one article into my homepage (http://www.ansoftsys.com/), do you think that I am capable of writing articles?

    2. How many articles do you think that i have to add into my website?

    3. And another question is, I kept this website into Google chrome store, thus I am receiving traffic into my website from Google Chrome-store. Is this fine to have this type of traffic? (Page views : 60 users/day, mainly from USA & Europe)

Please Note: I am not receiving much direct traffic from any search engines

Waiting for your reply in order to make relevent changes into my website

"Your blog seem to have a lot of ads and poor color scheme. Please reduce some of your Ads when you apply for AdSense or remove all Ads temporarily. Also, choose a more web friendly color scheme for your blog".

I have corrected all the errors you highlighted. But I don't have ads on my page. I don't know where the ads are because I can't see them. Kindly do a review now that I have corrected the other errors.

Hi Tony! This checklist helped me a lot but now I have 4 times rejected by Google AdSense and I am feeling hopeless please tell me what wrong with my blog its codesmesh.com.

Google said "Your site does not comply with Google policy". Please help!

Author: Tony John26 Aug 2013 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 5

    Sy,

Here are couple of suggestions for your blog CodeMesh.com:

    1. Reduce the size of the logo. It is taking about half of your visible area without scrolling.

    2. Add a "Contact Us" page at the footer.

    3. You have a Categories link at the most prominent position (above logo) but all that it contains is links to About Us and Privacy Policy pages, which should not be linked from such prominent place.

    4. You have "Hot Tags" link from the top, which also has sub menus About Us and Privacy Policy.

When a reviewer click on the first two menu items (Categories, Hot Tags), they will see unrelated sub menu items and they will leave your site at that time itself.

Overall, your site does not look like it is complete and ready for AdSense. Wait for another 4-5 months, try adding lot of unique articles and then reapply for AdSense.

    hello sir,

i would like you to review my website, www.lifengadget.com

My website domain is 6 months old, i applied for google AdSense way back but got disapproved as the content was copied.

Then i deleted all the articles and now i have made the site again in this month.
now, the content of every article is genuine, and i have taken screenshot images from Google.

Now I am getting 200-300 visits on my site daily, sometimes reaching 800-1000.

I applied for Google AdSense last week and again got disapproval as follows :

Site does not comply with Google policies

Please help me through this. I would like to know your expertise on this. It would be great help.

    Jitender Singh,

The first hing you need to change in your blog is the blocining Facebook LIKE box. A visitor cannot view your blog without closing the FB loke box, which gives a bad user experience. I am sure Google reviewers are not going to enjoy it.

You have are many non-standard approached in your blog. For example, there is no way I can click and select some text in your blog.

Get rid of all those bad user experience things from your blog and try again.

    Prashant Sharma,

I reviewed your blog www.lifengadget.com. You have mentioned that you have taken all the images from Google. That is a bad idea. It is nothing but stealing images. You have no rights to take images from other sources.

There are lot of language issues in your blog. Get a professional content developer review your content and fine tune them.

I have created a website at turnonshopping.com with shopping.com commerce account. I applied for AdSense account on this eCommerce website but got disapproved by Google. What I think is, if I am getting content using APIs, then all the content will be same with other sites using the same API. In this case, how can I use AdSense account on my eCommerce website?

Author: Tony John27 Aug 2014 Member Level: Diamond   Points : 3

    Rohit,

You will not be able to use AdSense in an eCommerce website in the way you specified above. Google requires original content to use AdSense. When you fetch content using APIs, they are just reproduced content and AdSense policies do not allow using in that manner. To use AdSense on your eCommerce website, you need to create original, unique content in your website instead of scrapping from the parent site.

    Keshav,

That particular article is written very poorly and doesn't even look like a proper article. With such a poor language, it will be difficult to convince Google that your blog is worth participating in AdSense program. To get your AdSense back, you may have to convince Google that you can write better articles.

I have done everything I could but Google is not approving my account. Please visit my blog and check if there is anything I should correct: royalimpression.blogspot.com

Below is the message i always get from them:
Thank you for your interest in Google AdSense. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application, we're unable to accept you into AdSense at this time.

We did not approve your application for the reasons listed below.

Insufficient content: To be approved for AdSense and show relevant ads on your site, your pages need to have enough text on them for our specialists to review and for our crawler to be able to determine what your pages are about.

To resolve this issue, please work through the following suggestions: Make sure that your pages have sufficient text – websites that contain mostly images, videos or Flash animations will not be approved.

Your content should contain complete sentences and paragraphs, not only headlines.
Ensure that your website is fully built and launched before you apply for AdSense – do not apply while your site’s still in a beta or “under construction” phase or only consists of a website template.
Place the ad code on a live page of your website. It does not have to be the main page, but test pages that are empty except for the AdSense ad code will not be approved.
Provide a clear navigation system for your visitors so that they can easily find all of the sections and pages of your website.
If you’d like to monetise YouTube videos, please apply for the YouTube monetisation program. Note that blogs and websites that contain only videos will not be approved.

Great information and thanks for sharing. After I followed all the steps, Google disapproved my AdSense steps but Google disapproved my AdSense request. My site is http://www.urtechguru.com. The message I got is:
Site does not comply with Google policies: We're unable to approve your AdSense application at this time because your site does not comply with the Google AdSense program policies or adhere to the Webmaster Quality guidelines. It's our goal to provide our advertisers sites that offer rich and meaningful content, receive organic traffic, and allow us to serve well-targeted ads to users. We believe that currently your site does not fulfill this criteria.

Pleas advise on what I should do.

    Hi
    My blog is taxdesign.in
I have applied thrice to adsense but not able to get the approval. I have made all the changes i can think of and now running out of idea. I am wondering if you can have a look at my site and suggest me some tips.

Currently i have registered with infolinks and chitika services but i had removed all the advertisments from my blog while applying. Looking forward to hear from you

    The reason they cite are
    1) doesnot adhere to google policy
    2) our site should also provide a good user experience through clear navigation
    3) Don’t place ads on auto-generated pages or pages with little to no original conten
