No one can deny the fact that Facebook, world's largest social network has played an important role penetrating into the life of people making it as a part of their life next to oxygen. Just recently Facebook revealed that it had crosses over one billion active users among them would be 5 crores users only from India.
There had an unpredictable growth in facebook users in countries like Brazil, India, Indonesia and Mexico. The number of facebook users in India had made a growth of 144% comparing it with the previous year taking the figure to around 5 Crores in 2012 keeping its place strong next to USA which has a lion share of 19% of the total Facebook users worldwide.
As in India, 30% of the new Facebook users in India register through mobile phone which might have made Facebook to put forward an attempt to increase the number of facebook users in India by launching a Talktime program where users in India would get Rs.50 worth airtime credits on their mobile number as a part of this promotion. This offer is valid only for new users who register on Facebook through a special link in the mobile site - http://m.facebook.com/tt.
But what buried under is the aim of this new marketing strategy put forward by Facebook. Even though many web companies has tried similar offers making people to register, participate and invite friends none of them could make a consistent progress as many tried to misuse the offer and started spamming to get more credits.
The promotion which has gone live ten days ago does not seem to put forward a strong strategy as it would motivate users to make fake profiles to get more talk time credits in their kitty. Any way the new users can visit http://m.facebook.com/tt and sign up to avail the free talk time offer. As per the note given in the facebook sign up page, talk time will be credited in the account within three days.
There is no need of providing the email address while registering but a mobile number which is not yet associated with any other Facebook account should be provided.
While signing up, the phone number and also phone number of the person who invited you (if any), with personal details like Name, Gender, and Date of Birth should be filled up. The user will receive free talktime within three days of registering and a confirmation code will be sent to their mobile number. Facebook had partnered with few telecom operators Facebook to offer this service in India but more details are not yet reveled.

Facebook is without any doubt the leading giant in the social networking arena .But in india there is a significant population who are unaware of this site and all this is because many of them don't have access to computers and internet.By launching mobile registration facebook is not considering these kind of crowd and if it goes according to the plan then surely facebook can surely get a lot of new members from the backward regions of india that are not so developed
