What is Charms in Windows 8

In this post, I will introduce the Windows 8 Charms. A short definition of Charms is, it is the quick access shortcut to the commonly used tasks in your Windows 8 computer.
Charms in Windows 8
provides easy and quick access to many of the commonly used tasks in your computer and applications. The Charms is context sensitive and provides different results according to the App you are currently on.
Charms is a hidden taskbar on the right edge of your screen. You can activate it and bring it to forefront through a couple of actions.
How to activate the Charms in Windows?
If you are on a Windows 8 desktop computer with traditional keyboard and mouse, then point your mouse on top right or bottom right corner of the screen. This will pull out the Charms bar on the right edge of your screen.
If you are using a touch screen device, you can bring up the Charms by swiping from right to left on your screen.
The quickest way to get Charms on any device is by pressing the Win + C key combination.
Default Charms in Windows 8
The following are the default charms in Windows 8:
Search Charm
Share Charm
Start Charm
Devices Charm
Settings Charm
Search Charm
allows you to search for apps, settings and files in your computer. If you are currently on an App, then the App can provide app specific results in the Search Charm. For example, if you are in an email app, when when you search using the Charm, the email app may show you the emails matching your search query.
Share Charm
allows you to share app specific details with others. For example, if you are on a browser app, the Share Charm allows you to share the webpages with your contacts and also send by email.
Start Charm
is your shortcut to get back to the new Windows 8 start screen on a single click.
Devices Charm
allows you to work with devices like printers, bluetooth devices etc.
Settings Charm
gives you quick access to various system settings including Control Panel, Volume control, Shutdown options and so on.
