How to get your first Outlook Email Id?

Microsoft has launched New Email Service- Outlook.com. Now I am thinking about getting a new Outlook Email Id. I know you all are also thinking like me to get an Outlook Id. So, here are few simple steps to be followed to get your Outlook Email Id. I will explain each step briefly here with the necessary snapshots which will help you a lot.

Do you already have Microsoft Account

You have to type the URL-http://www.outlook.com/. Here, I should first tell you about one thing that getting an Outlook Email account basically means having a Microsoft Account. If you are using Windows phone, Xbox LIVE, SkyDrive or Hotmail you already have Microsoft account. You can directly Sign in with your Microsoft account.

I don't have Microsoft Account

All those people who don't have Microsoft account like me must stay tuned because you are on your way in getting your Outlook Email account. As we can clearly see in the above image, there is a Sign Up button. When you will click the Sign Up button, a new window will open where you have to submit all your information. I will tell you all the sufficient information you need to enter on this page.

Basic Information

Under the Name, there are two textboxes where you have to enter your First name in the first textbox and Last name into second textbox. This would be the name of your profile through which your friends will recognize you, so you should use your real name. The next field is of the Birth Date and you have enter your birth date by using dropdown lists. The next field is of Gender, where you have three options to fill- Male, Female and Not Specified.

Microsoft account name field is really important because this is the Email Address which you will use to send and receive mails. The Microsoft account name must be unique and it will end with @outlook.com. You don't have to write @outlook.com in the textbox, it will be automatically added to your specified account name. After entering your account name, now you have to set your password for Outlook Email Id. This will be the password you will use to login into your Outlook Email account. The password must be greater than 8 characters. And it should at least contain two of the following- Symbols, Numbers, Lower-case letters and Upper-case letters. Any combination of two of these will be valid. You also have to enter same password in the Re-Enter password textbox.

Password Reset Information

The next part is for the Password Reset process of your Outlook Email Id. Here, you have to provide your Phone number, Alternate Email Address and Security question. You can also choose to fill only two of these. I have done it by filling up my Phone number and Alternate Email Address. It all depends on you that what are the two options you want to choose.

You are almost done

Now you just have to choose your country name in the dropdown list and enter your Postal Code. Postal Code is a necessary field, you have to enter it otherwise you will not be able to Sign Up for Outlook Email account. You are almost done with your new Outlook Email Id, you just have to enter the Captcha. You are done with your new Outlook Email Id. Now, you can spread your Outlook Email Address to your friends.
