How to Update Galaxy TAB 8.9 with Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware

As being an Android fan, you might have heard about the latest release of Android 4.1 called as 'Jellybean'. Many of the smartphone devices or Android devices can be easily updated to it. In this article I am going to give you a guide on `How to Update Galaxy TAB 8.9 with Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware`. Read through this article to know more about this tutorial.
The AOSP team has made it possible to update
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
with the latest version of
Jellybean 4.1 Alpha 2
. As this is an alpha release, most of the functionalities are still being developed. I also here by declaring that this an unofficial firmware version built by third party developers and not an official release from Samsung Electronics.

Back up Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 before Jellybean 4.1 Update
During the process of the Jellybean installation, You might lost your data stored in your device. So backup will be the only available option in front of you to save your data. You can backup your data by following the simple steps given below. It is also recommended that, do not use PC suites while back up your device, as they do not support beta firmwares.
Back up your SMS
– Use "SMS Backup & Restore app",
Contacts
– Sync them with Your Gmail application,
Call Log
- Use Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos and other Files
– Copy to internal or External SD Card.
APN and MMS Settings
– Note down from the path "Applications>> Settings>> Wireless and Network>> Mobile Networks>> Access Point Names".
Precautions While Updating Galaxy Tab 8.9 with Android Jellybean 4.1
There should be at least 60% of battery charge left on your Tablet, as your may interfere the installation process and may turn of due to low charge on the battery.
Disable all the security tools which have been installed on your computer as well as in your tablet, in order to ensure the full installation process without any interfere in between.
Enable USB Debugging in your
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
, by going to "Settings>> Applications>> Development>> USB debugging".
It is strictly recommended for you to follow the above steps clearly, so that you can ensure full safety of your device while installing the
Jellybean 4.1 Update

Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 with Jellybean 4.1.1 Update
Step 1: First of all you will need to Root Galaxy Tab 8.9 before updating it to Jellybean 4.1.
Rooting guides of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
can be found on Google. Now download the app called "Root Checker", in order to ensure that your Tablet is rooted or not. You can get the above application from Google PLAY Store. You will be able to see the rooting status of your device upon opening the above application.
Step 2: Now Download the Jellybean 4.1.1 Update Package (for 3G Version) straightly to your computer. Once downloaded the above package, connect your Tablet with your computer and copy the files into your device. Also ensure that you are not keeping the file too deep into your device.
Step 3: Reboot your tablet, such that it enters into the recovery mode upon starting up. In order to run recovery mode in your tablet, you must be holding both the Volume down button and the power button simultaneously for 15 seconds and you will be able to see the two icons in your tab. Upon the icon appears, release both the buttons and select "Recovery Mode", with the help of Volume buttons and the recovery mode will show up soon.
Step 4: Now you will need to select "apply zip from SD Card", with the help of volume buttons. And after that, select the Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware file which you have copied to your device earlier. It will take approximately about 5 – 10 minutes for finalizing the rooting process. Your tablet will automatically get restarted Once the rooting process is over. In any case if your device did not rebooted automatically, then it will definitely show up the recovery mode screen. From the recovery mode, select "go back" and select "reboot system now", this option will help you reboot your device manually in the normal mode.
Note:
In any case if your device did not get updated, you can retry the whole process after clearing the cache from the recovery mode.
Once the device is restarted, your installation process has been completed. You have been successfully updated by
AOSP Beta Jellybean 4.1.1
based firmware. You can now confirm the same by going to Settings>> About Tablet.
