Do you know everything you can do with you Wi-Fi network? If you think so then I have something interesting for you. This article has detailed explanation on six other cool things one can do with Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi network
Your home Wi-Fi network is mostly used for one purpose- accessing the internet. Is it everything one can do with his/her home Wi-Fi network. I will show you six other cool things one can do if you have a Wi-Fi router and broadband.

Print Wirelessly through home Wi-Fi network

There are two ways you can print wirelessly. Either get a printer with built-in Wi-Fi or if you already have a printer, you can get a Wi-Fi router that supports wireless printing. Printer with built-in Wi-Fi costs around 7k.
To connect an existing printer to your network, you can use the Asus WL-520 GU router with USB print server. It works like any other router but has a USB at the back. Connect your printer to it and it will show up your network.

Transfer Photos from your Camera Wirelessly

With this new gadget, your memory card will never run out of memory. With an Eye-Fi SD card, you can transfer files from your camera onto your PC using your Wi-Fi network. Before use it needs to be paired with your Wi-Fi network first. Then simply use the Eye-Fi like any regular memory card. It can even be set to transfer images to a connected iOS device over Wi-Fi. One can even set the card to directly upload photos to social networking or photo sharing websites.

Wireless File Transfer

Sharing large files is cumbersome. You need to transfer it and wait for minutes or in worst case hours before transfer completes. Now we can share large chunk files in minutes. Follow-Control Panel>System>Advanced system settings>Computer name to make sure that all computers are in the same group. Enable file and printer sharing in network settings and check boxes for "Turn on network discovery", "turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change and create files". Now your computer will be visible under Network devices. To share files, just copy them to the public folder. Other computers can copy or paste files into that folder or from that folder.

Make Phone Call through Wi-Fi

Just like in your PC, you can receive and send VoIP calls. You just need to have a Wi-Fi equipped smartphone. Nowadays, even a phone with price tag 5k comes with inbuilt Wi-Fi. Then just download Skype then you are ready to make free calls and talk for hours. Connect your Wi-Fi phone to the network, sign into your Skype account and start making calls instantly.

Use your smart phone and tablets like a remote control

With increasing popularity of android and iOS, many smart TVs, media players and Blu-Ray players now are coming compatible with these OS's.There are apps that turns your portable device into Wi-Fi remote control. Unlike infrared it can work through walls. No need to point your device towards your TV.

Keep an eye on your home through Wi-Fi

Home surveillance cameras can help you keep an eye on what's happening at home while you're in office or out of town. Professional home surveillance systems are too much expensive. The solution to this is to have a wireless IP camera .You can mount it anywhere you want.

There are infrared LEDs for night vision, a built in microphone and speaker for two-way communication. With this you need not worry about safety of your home.
