Window 8 is faster than Windows 7 a comparative approach Windows 8 vs Windows 7 speed analysis for the thirty tech-savvy’s penned down by Mr. Rob Copeland, the group program manager at Microsoft's graphics team is a useful piece of information for everyone. Illustrative charts explain clearly the technical aspect which renders Windows 8 is faster performance tool in comparison to Windows 7.

Microsoft latest innovation- Windows 8 is not just hyped for its new Metro App style supporting cloud services with a touch technology but Microsoft has meticulously worked on it to make Windows 8 operating system the best in the league. It has not only redesigned the interface but also has researched and worked to fine line the intricacies like texting, geometry and image viewing which although doesn't catch ones attention but plays an important role in enhancing the performance of the operating system and giving it that extra edge.

Windows 7 expanded the concept of DirectX to act as a common hardware-accelerated graphics program for various applications. The feature that was added was called the "mainstream" graphics. It became a centre for graphic acceleration for day to day use apps like web browsers, mails and many more. Rendering focuses on its specific part. For example, if a video is being viewed only the portion of the video gets re-drawing excluding the other parts. This helps to reduce the amount of data that needs to be copied every time to the memory and also reduces the power consumption. Microsoft has very aptly taken care of its technical aspects to make windows 8 worth using.

Text Acceleration in Windows 8 vs. Windows 7

Texting is the highest use of Windows. Texting comprises of over 60 percent of one's day to day activities mostly comprising of texting in mails, chatting, instant message and Google search. So it was by default the priority issue to enhance the text performance as far as Windows 8 is concerned. The chart shown below gives you a summary of how Windows 8 is better than Windows 7 as far as text rendering is concerned.

Geometry Rendering in Windows 8 vs. Windows 7

Microsoft claims "Dramatic performance improvements for 2D geometry rendering." Geometric rendering is important in the context of creating tables, graphs, charts and diagrams. Windows 8 however focuses on "implementations of HTML5 Canvas and SVG technologies for use in Metro style apps, and web pages viewed with Internet Explorer 10." This is the prime reason for the enhanced geometry rendering in Windows 8. The results plotted in the graph clearly speak out for themselves:

Image Rendering in Windows 8 vs. Windows 8

Image rendering has also been taken care of by Microsoft. Improvements have been made while working with images in jpeg, gif and png formats.
