Samsung Galaxy SIII was reported to have been exploded few days back. What was the reason of explosion? Was it manufacturing defect or a false Alarm? This article gives a clear picture of the entire episode.
Samsung Galaxy S III the much coveted phone which has gained popularity owing to the number of bookings and reviews of customer satisfaction setting it apart from the rest of its competitor was reported to have exploded by one of its customers. The user apparently posted pictures of the burned models of Samsung Galaxy S III. Within a few hours of posting the pictures Samsung took the case on a priority basis setting up investigations to find out the real case of the explosion.
What was the actual case?
A user named "Dillo2K10" posted images of the burnt model of Samsung Galaxy SIII claiming that the Samsung Galaxy SIII exploded into white flames while he was sitting in his car. It burnt the plastic of his interior of the car and he was lucky to have been saved but in fear of what occurred he posted pictures of the burnt model of phone.
What did Samsung Do?
Samsung took the case on a priority basis. Samsung hired Fire Investigation UK (FIUK) to examine the model and to get to the roots of how and why the model exploded. Apprehensions of the exploding due to manufacturing defect or just manufacturing defect this particular set was done. However, Samsung did not say anything and just waited patiently for the reports. Fire Investigation UK (FIUK) boasts of experienced expertise from the fire brigade and forensic department. A thorough investigation and research was done to know the actual cause.
What did FIUK report stated?
FIUK report clearly stated that the cause of the fire was an external agency of heat source. The Model was intact and there was no damage in it. The Electrical components attached to the PCB were burnt and out of experience and tests carried by FIUK it was clear that the explosion was the cause of an external heat agency. Further, the moisture patch on the phone was missing. FIUK also stated that the only way the damage could have been done as was stated by the owner is that the device or the components of the device were placed in the microwave and the heat generated by the microwave could have been the cause of the explosion. The scanned copy of report of the FIUK is as follows:
Accuser's interrogation.
When Samsung again questioned the accuser who posted the burnt images of Samsung Galaxy S III he confessed that the device was actually by mistake dropped into water and while seeking advice from his friend and considering his suggestion he felt it right to put the device in the microwave so that the moisture could be evaporated leaving the device intact. However, it seems that the opposite happened and the device exploded into flames.
Conclusion: Samsung Galaxy SIII explosion was not a manufacturing defect
It is quite evident that this whole episode speaks of sabotaging the reputation of Samsung and it much reputed model Samsung Galaxy SIII. It also made very clear that the device with its components should in no way be put into microwave. Samsung did a beautiful job of investigation and getting to the roots of the cause of explosion. The result is in front of the public.
