Despite the fact that Apple OS is more stable, Windows remains the most widespread operating system all over the world. The big giant Microsoft is aware of Apple's somewhat spectacular rise over the last couple of years.

#3: Surface is made for Enterprise

With Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) schemes on the up, many firms will be more likely to support Surface than an iPad, simply because it is expected to be more compatible with current organizational networks, most of which runs Microsoft products. Adding to this, the lack of the App Store ecosystem that Surface has and this suggests that Surface is intended more at this market. Though the cheaper, ARM-based variety is aimed more at the buyer market, it's difficult to see how well it will contest in the market which has been set up by iPad.

It's too difficult to judge how these things will turn out in the near future, you only have to look at the Kindle Fire, the last supposed competitor to the iPad. Despite the hype at the time, the smoke has proved to be no danger to Apple at all and at the same time as it currently accounts for around 35% of the tablet market, this is going to fall further once Surface is out as well as Google Nexus 7 starts flooding into market.

However, this is the big daddy Microsoft and not Amazon, and this is what will sway many in favour of the Surface's tablet over the iPad.
