Are you looking for one of the lowest priced laptops in India? This review from a savvy mom who is always on the lookout to save money, will help you find the best lowest price laptop available in India today.
Looking for
lowest priced laptops
I came across Allied Computers International's latest launch named ACI Icon and Aakash by Datawind. Here is what I found while searching for a low cost laptop for my daughter. Schools are so advanced nowadays. They are already teaching Computer Applications in the early classes. Anyways, here is a quick overview on what I consider is the cheapest laptop in India and why it is worth the money.
Lowest Priced Laptop - Acer Icon 1100
ACI Icon is a low cost laptop offered at a jaw dropping price of only Rs. 4,999/-. This is an amazing price tag for a cheap laptop and if we are to believe rumours, then this cheap laptop is set to make some waves.
Are Lowest Priced Laptops Worth the Hype?
Lowest priced laptops usually have the drawback of being cheap in the literal sense. Have you heard of the rumors on Aakash tablet which launched recently for a mind boggling price of Rs. 2500 ? Well, if we listen to the rumor mills, Aakash was a farce, a waste of money and many angry customers are venting out in forums.
Problems with Lowest Priced Laptops
The makers of one of India's lowest priced laptop ever Datawind, have been dragged to court and have cases pending against them. Aakash was set to launch this month and going by rumors it is not delivering on all the great things which were promised. Companies promise the moon and offer affordable laptops, but do they really deliver?
Most of the time it is best to avoid such cheap laptops as they do not have the capabilities a laptop is expected to deliver. There is a reason we pay brands like Dell money and that is because they provide quality. The products have quality, the service is great and it so easy to upgrade. Will these low cost options in India deliver on these grounds?
Sometimes it reminds me of the bold step taken by Maruti. They told us they would make a luxury vehicle affordable and they kept their promise. Kingfisher did the same for airlines. Well, I guess they bombed but they did set a trend. Through this review I have suddenly realized that we are standing at a threshold of big things to happen. Imagine, laptops becoming affordable. It was a dream for me to own one and it took me years to get a hold of one. At prices below Rs. 5000 or $100 these companies are helping us have access to quality products at affordable costs.
Will ACI Icon 1100 take the Crown as India's Cheapest Laptop ever?
While we wait for Aakash to be delivered soon, let us move back to ACI Icon 1100. Priced at Rs. 4,999 , ACI Icon 1100 is a steal. It has a 10.2 inch screen, 1024x768 pixel resolution and is 11 x 7.25 x 1 inches in dimension. ACI Icon versus Aakash
Which laptop should be crowned as India's cheapest laptop? Though Aakash tablet is priced much lower than ACI Icon 1000, I will vote for ACI Icon. ACI Icon has the better configuration and capabilities and in my humble opinion these beat the minor price difference.
What are your thoughts? Do you take a stand for Aakash or for ACI icon? Does price matter for you? What are your triggers in considering a cheap laptop for your use?
