Windows 8 Editions - Finally Revealed

With the hype created by Microsoft for Windows 8 is highly creditable with the release of Windows 8 Release Preview. And now added to it, they have revealed the types of Windows 8 which will be released that is Windows 8 Editions. So read this article to know more about the Windows 8 Editions which were to be released in October, 2012.

With the much hyped Windows 8 Previews and battling the mixed and rave reviews Windows 8 has finally come. Windows 8 was scheduled to be released officially by by the end of October last year. It means that we will get our hands on this original, fully functional Windows 8 by this October.

With this official announcement, we can say that a RTM (Release to Manufacture) version will be available to developers roughly about a month earlier. It will be basically a retail version that will be provided to the developers before us. But don't worry, the pirates of the interent world will make sure that the RTM versions are made available to the normal users via all the file sharing sites.

The announcement of the Release Preview was followed by the announcement of how many editions Windows 8 will have. We have seen this trend before. The previous Windows version had more editions that people worldwide have memorized, the Startes, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and so on. With this latest release also, Microsoft is following the same path rather with some different names.

The Windows 8 editions are been listed below.

1. Windows 8
2. Windows 8 Pro
3. Windows 8 Enterprise
4. Windows 8 RT i.e. Run Time

Windows 8 will be loaded with all the features we have seen or used or heard about like, the new Metro UI, the all new taskbar, new Windows Explorer, better performance, better power efficiency, greatly user friendly and lots and lots more. Basically, what I am saying is that Windows 8 is loaded with mouth-watering features and it surely going to be seen in most of the houses once its launched.

If you are an average user, beleive me you will be more satisfied with your OS labeled as Windows 8 and you won't feel like knowing which edition it is. Just the name Windows 8 will lure you to remain satisfied. That's the magic of it.

Windows 8 is almost same like previous "Home Premium" editions. There are many similarities that compel users to say that thay are much analogous to each other. For normal users like us, Windows 8's simple edition will be more than enough.

Windows 8 Pro edition will contain all the features of Windows 8 and would be of more use to the professionals and power users such as virtual desktop, remote desktop, group management policy etc. The most important point of Windows 8 Pro is that it is the only edition that can be upgraded from Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate edition.

Coming to Windows 8 Enterprise Edition, this edition will only be available to multinational companies and corporations. It will include all the features of the Windows 8 Pro and will be loaded with additional features developed much for the software professionals like the advanced security, advanced virtualizations, network protocols and so on.

Now it's time to know about the most interesting edition in this series. Windows 8 RT, which stands for "Run Time", will only be available to Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM), which is associated with the making of mobile computing solutions such as tablet PCs. Since Windows 8 will be the first version to support the ARM architecture, Windows 8 RT has been optimized for mobile devices, touch-based UIs. It will consist of features like touch-optimized applications and programs.
