Here is a good news for the WordPress users: WordPress has been selected for the Members Choice Award from CodeProject as the best CMS solution for content management. Learn more about the best Content Management System award for WordPress.

It is a great news for WordPress users and not so good news for the competitors. WordPress has been selected as the Best Content Management System by CodeProject and bagged the Members Choice award for this year in the relevant category.



CodeProject is one of the largest developer communities in the world with support from millions of developers. The CodeProject Members Choice Award was introduced 4 years ago. This is the fourth annual award. There are several award categories and WordPress is the winner in the Content Management Systems category.

The runner up for the Best CMS award is, Microsoft Sharepoint.

The selection of the winner was done through multiple criteria. Millions of developers at CodeProject were asked to select the best products in various categories. Being a developer community that focus on Microsoft technologies, o doubt Microsoft Sharepoint received good rating in the competition. But WordPress being a free software used by millions of bloggers worldwide, no doubt it became the N: 1 choice as the best CMS package.

What is WordPress?


WordPress is a content management system that power millions of blogs and website. WordPress CMS can be used to create simple blogs or sophisticated websites. There are hundreds of pre-built features in the WordPress CMS that bloggers and webmasters can take advantage to develop websites without writing a single line of code. If you like to start your own website or blog, you may use WordPress in 2 different ways:

Option 1. Setup a WordPress blog at www.WordPress.com. In this case, your blog address will be something like this:

http://yourname.wordpress.com

You can use the prebuilt tools to power your blog without any extra efforts for hosting.

Option 2: Download the WordPress software and install on your hosting server. In this case, you need to sign up with another hosting service and install the WordPress software. Compared to previous option, you need to do some efforts to install and configure WordPress before your website can go live. Many web hosting companies provide WordPress pre installed so that you can get jump start.
