According to the Officials, Ministry of Indian Railways, they have got a good response from Mobile Rail Booking Service introduced by Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) which is a Government of India Enterprise. Passengers can book their ticket on the mobile website www.irctc.co.in/mobile. This website is very convenient and easy to use too and can be accessed through any GPRS enabled mobile from anywhere. During booking in IRCTC passengers must have a valid email-id and mobile number which are now mandatory.

How to book a ticket through mobile

1. Atfirst you have to login the website the website www.irctc.co.in/mobile with your existing user name and id.

2. Click on the 'Book Ticket' and fill 'Plan My Travel' in details.

3. Then select the train you need and continue booking process.

4. Now use the existing passengers list or 'Add passengers'.

5. Then have to confirm booking details.

6. Pay through Debit or Credit cards.

7. After payment user can get a congratulation message on his/her mobile.

After successful booking, the passengers will get a reservation message on their phone with complete details of the booked ticket including PNR number. Train number, class, date of journey etc. This message will be considered as a ticket. The railway officials said that the authorized message having all important details with original valid photo-id(voter id-card etc)will be treated as a valid ticket. Other than booking passengers can also get a enquiry through their mobiles about their reservation, booked ticket history or cancel the ticket. Internet booking is available between 00:00 am to 23:30 pm.
