Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo will expected to be ban in India. On 13th January 2012, Indian government filed a case in Delhi High Court against objectionable material in their web pages. India will ban or block websites like Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, if these websites not take appropriate step for facing blocking technology. Read this article to know more about filed case against Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and other websites in Delhi High Court.
These days, Indian ministry is trying to put constraints restrictions on Telecom sector so as to avoid unwanted activities. It is Kapil Sibbal, an Indian Cabinet Minister who is not happy with Microsoft, Facebook, Google Yahoo and other 17 websites. Kapil Sibbal is uphappy with search engine and social networking websites due to availability of some objectionable content at these websites. For this purpose, Sibbal invited executive of these websites to remove such unwanted contents.
When these companies refused to accept demand of Mr Sibal by giving reason that, it is difficult to restrict customers to add new content to their websites and search engines. Indian Government also sanctioned prosecution against Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Yahoo for putting and representing objectionable content on their sites. It is Delhi High court in which Indian ministry has filed case against these social networking websites. Indian Government demanded serious charges against the social networking sites or either make a mechanism or algorithm that automatically check and remove objectionable material from their web pages using face blocking technology.
Kapil Sibbal objects these websites, when some adult or unwanted pictures of Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi came on these websites. Sibbal argued that Ministry wants these websites to maintain an algorithmic mechanism to remove unwanted content. Delhi high court has adjourned that case till now. It not only includes above sites but also includes list of 17 other websites too. The Delhi High Court has directed the external affairs ministry to handle the summons issued to foreign based websites.
The case depicts petition to remove objectionable content from 21 websites. Out of these 21 websites, 12 websites belongs to foreign based companies. In Delhi High Court, these companies have appeared but case is still pending. Indian government accused companies to face trial under punishable sections 292 (sale of obscene books etc.), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young person etc.) of the Indian Penal Code. Indian Government wants to take appropriate steps on the objectionable content of the sites as soon as possible. The case is filed in Delhi High Court on 13 January 2012. Now the question arises is that Will Microsoft, Facebook, Google and Yahoo ban in India.
If these websites also ban in India like China then what will happen in India is unimaginable? We cannot think about the future scope without these websites. We hope that issue between Indian Government and these websites should be resolved soon.
