Aakash2 Tablet - The UbiSlate7 tablet has upgrade called as UbiSlate+
Most awaited tablet and cheapest also tablet developed by Indian Government and A Canadian company - DATAWIND got an update called UbiSlate7+, You may call it as Aakash 2 instead. We all know how eagerly Indians are waited to get Aakash in their hand, All the Aakash tablets were sold out and you need to do hurry in order to order the upgraded version of Aakash the Aakash2. The pre orders of month January 2012 and February already sold out.

From the above paragraph you may have got an idea about what exactly Aakash is? Aakash is a tablet mainly developed for poor peoples and students who don't have financial capability to buy a laptop or a device which can be useful for educational purpose. Telecoms and Education Minister kapil sibal says - "The rich have access to the digital world, the poor and ordinary have been excluded. Aakash will end that digital divide,".

What is Aakash 2 ( UbiSlate7+ )

Aakash 2 is an upgraded version of Aakash technically called as UbiSlate7 and the newer Aakash is called as UbiSlate7+. Ubislate 7+ is a bit pricy than its predecessor, Only 500 INR you need to pay extra to buy the Aakash 2. Originally Aakash 2 costs only 2999 rs which is too cheap compared to other tablets present in market. Aakash2 is a tablet mainly developed for poor peoples and students who don't have financial capability to buy a laptop or a device which can be useful for educational purpose. Aakash 2 is a touchscreen yablet running on Android 2.3 Mobile OS with a HD co-processor for better output which playing HD Videos. It also has some new features I'm going to discuss them below.

UbiSlate 7+ ( Aakash 2) Features :

Most amazingly it is included with the 700 Mhz Cortex Process with the HD Video Co-Processor which makes all the HD videos playable on This device. Normally we get HD playback feature in top end mobiles or tablets only, we don't even expect a 3000 Rs tablet giving a HD video experience to its user. Also the High Quality video streaming is possible in this device.

It has a 256MB RAM to boost the user experience. Although the 256MB RAM is not sufficient for such kind of multimedia device but we cant say anything right now. Let it come in our hands so we can deeply comment on its RAM whether its sufficient or not to manage a tablet. Let come to the storage. Aakash 2 has a 2GB inbuilt storage which is more than sufficient to store office files, eBooks etc. If a student want to keep Educational Videos then he or she might be use external storage upto 32GB but they didn't mentioned about external storage type whether it is MicroSD, SD or something else.

What a student need in a tablet? A reader which can ready all types of File such as powerpoint, word, pdf etc. The company claims it can read all types of Office files and a lot more. Office files includes all the document files we can read on a Windows PC can be readable on Aakash 2. The display comes with the resolution of 480x800 which is great for viewing the office files, in fact you can view a full page of a document without scroll's. The 7" Display strikes again. No need to give pain to your eyes. You can easily read text written in the document. Or browser the websites fluently.

Now come to the connectivity solutions. It has a GPRS means we can use simple 2G Internet by means of a SIM card in it. and a WiFi 802.11 a/b/g means we can connect to wifi hubs wherever possible. Usually all the colleges are enabled with the wifi hubs for their students so we can make use of them in Aakash tablet. What is most disappointing to me is the battery life. The 3200 mAh battery can powerup this device or only 3 Hours which is too less than the industry standard. A tablet should give at least 10 Hours of battery backup. 180 mins backup puts it in the range of laptops which aslo gives similar battery backup.

It also has some other necessary functions as mentioned below.

1. We can still use it as phone, It can make/receive voice calls. (Not sure about Video calling, As it don't have a 3G support forget about video calling). You may use External 3G modem and use external webcam to do video call over Internet.
2. USB port - Yes you can use any normal pendrive, the Aakash2 tablet is featured with the USB post to accept any Ordinary Pendrive (Not sure about External Harddiscs ! )
3. Its integrated with Facebook, Twitter and it also has Email Cliant to write/receve emails and has a Web Browser to crawl the web ( Aakash may have the UbiSurfer Browser developed by DataWind itself. ) Don't forget the Full Office suit capable of reading all types of office documents.
4. Over 150000 apps and more Educational Softwares also available for your Aakash table.
