Windows 8 Developer Preview was released for general public in the second week of September,2011. Lot of new features were added to Windows 8 Developer Preview. One of the new feature of Windows 8 is the built-in option to turn On/off 16-bit application support.


How to turn On/Off 16 bit Application Support in Windows 8 Developer Preview


We all know that Windows 8 Developer Preview was released for general public during the BUILD conference held on 13th September,2011. Lakhs of downloads were found within 24 hours after the release. Lot of new features were added to the next generation Windows 8 operating system. One of the new features added in Windows 8 Developer Preview was the built-in option to turn On/Off 16-bit application support in Windows 8. Let us see some more details about this interesting feature of Windows 8.

A new applet '16-Bit Application Support' is available in Control Panel of Windows 8 Developer Preview. This applet allows you to enable or disable the 16-Bit application support in Windows 8. So if you want to run 16-bit applications in Windows 8, you should enable this option.

When you open this applet in Control Panel, you will get a dialog box which asks you to either turn on or turn off the 16-bit application support. You need to simply click on 'Enable' button to enable 16-bit application support in Windows 8 or click on 'Disable' button to disable 16-bit application support in Windows 8.

If this option is disabled, Windows 8 will automatically asks you to enable the option whenever you try to run a 16-bit application.
