Read this article to know more about the Event viewer feature in the new Windows 8 operating system. In this article I will discuss about Event viewer and its features.

Few days back, I downloaded Windows 8 Developer preview from the official Microsoft website and installed it in the VMware Workstation 8. After installing it successfully in the VMware Workstation 8, I dedicated my time to test the new Windows 8 operating system. As soon as I installed the Windows 8, first thing I noticed is the Metro Interface. Metro Interface is the latest innovation from Microsoft. Metro Interface looks cool on the touch enabled devices like tablets, Slates, Smart phones etc.
Apart from the Metro interface, Windows 8 has many features. Some of the features in Windows 8 are revealed in the "Building Windows 8" blog. Building Windows 8 is the official Microsoft blog where the employees of Microsoft will author the post on Windows 8 operating system. Apart from the features in the Building Windows 8 blog, there are many other features which are not yet revealed by Microsoft.
While testing the new Windows 8 operating system in VMware Workstation 8, I decided to install default gadgets which are in the Windows 8 operating system. I followed the general procedure to install the Gadgets. By Right clicking on the desktop, I selected the Gadgets option and installed few Gadgets like Calender, Time, CPU Meter and Weather. All the gadgets installed properly without any problem.
Before installing the Gadgets, I used "Weather Information" App which is present in the Metro interface. In that App, I selected my default location as "Bangalore". Interestingly, in the desktop gadget also, Windows 8 by default selected "Bangalore" as my location and started showing the weather updates. From this feature, we can say that, Apps in Windows 8 will share the information with each other.

The other thing which I noticed as soon as I switch on my Windows 8 is, there is a small notification at the bottom of the task bar, behind the date and time. The notification says Your location has been recently accessed. As soon as I click on the notification, Event viewer opened. In the Event viewer, I can able to see which program has accessed my location. It is none other than Weather gadget in the desktop. By this we can say, with the help of Event Viewer in Windows 8, we can know what are the program's which are trying to access the data from our system".
