Today morning I successfully downloaded and installed Windows 8 operating system in my VMware Workstation. After installing the Windows 8 OS, I started testing the features of Windows 8 operating system.

The first thing which I noticed about Windows 8 is the new Metro Style interface. Metro style interface looks different from the traditional desktop interface. Apart from the user interface, Windows 8 looks different from the other Windows operating system. Many new features have been added to Windows 8 operating system. Windows Explorer got new ribbon interface in Windows 8 operating system. Task Manager which plays a crucial role in all the Windows operating system has also been changed. The general look of the new Task Manager is simple and elegant. Below is the image of Task Manager in Windows 8 operating system.

Though it looks simple in interface, Task Manager in Windows 8 is more powerful than the others. The power of Task Manager is hidden behind the "More" details button. Once you click on the More button, you can see a cleaner and useful interface of the Task Manager which shows usage of CPU, RAM, Disk and Network usage.

If you are using any Metro applications, you can see their process state as "Suspended". This happens because they are running in the background and they won't use any processor time. If you click on the performance tab, you will see an dialog box with which one can easily monitor performance of CPU, RAM, Disk and network usage.

In the same line, you can find an App History tab with which you can track how much RAM or CPU of an application has been using over time. It is an extremely useful feature to figure out what is slowing down the PC.
