In this article, I will explain the detail step by step procedure on how to download the latest Windows 8 operating system. Follow the steps mentioned in the article to download Windows 8 successfully.

Microsoft on 14th September, 2011 released Developer preview of Windows 8 operating system. Many developers and enthusiastic people downloaded Windows 8 operating system and tested the new Windows 8 operating system. Those who used Windows 7 operating system, they can easily understand how to use Windows 8 operating system. For the people those who are using Windows XP, it is quite difficult to understand the new Windows 8 interface.

Below are the steps mentioned on how to download the developer preview of Windows 8 operating system. Before going to download the Windows 8 OS, below are the minimum system requirements to install Windows 8 on your PC.

System requirements of Windows 8 OS

1) 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
2) 1 GB RAM for 32 bit and 2 GB RAM for 64 bit
3) 16 GB free hard disk space for 32 bit or 20 GB free hard disk space for 64 bit
4) DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If you want to take advantage of touch input, you should have touch device which support mutli touch. If you are using Windows 7 operating system, you have enough resources to use Windows 8 on the same hardware.

How to download Windows 8 OS

1) Go to dev.windows.com.

2) Under "Download Windows 8 Developer Preview" you will find "Get Started". Click on the get started.

3) You will be directed to a site where you will find the ISO images of the Windows 8 OS.

4) Download the suitable ISO image. Wait till completion of the download.

6) If you are interested to install Windows 8 from a USB drive, go to Microsoft store page and Download the USB/DVD tool with which you can put the ISO image onto a bootable flash drive for installation.

7) After completion of the download, now open the USB/DVD tool and choose the ISO file of Windows 8 and select the drive and wait till it is copyed.
