Are you installing the Windows 8 and looking for genuine product keys for Windows 8 developer preview build? Find out where to get a product key to use with Windows 8 developer preview build.

Microsoft announced the public release of Windows 8 Developer Preview version. It is available for download in the Microsoft website. You can read step by step instructions to install Windows 8.

During installation of Windows 8, in one of the screens, the setup process will prompt you to enter the Windows 8 product key. Wait, didn't Microsoft tell us it is free for all? Yes, that is right. Windows 8 developer preview edition is a limited trial and is free for all.

When the installation process prompt you to enter the product keys, you may skip the step and choose the option to provide the product keys later. The Windows 8 installation will continue without any problems.

Product keys for Windows 8 developer preview

If you really want to use a product key and activate your version of Windows 8, I am not really sure where to get one. I searched in the official Windows 8 websites and could not find any official information from Microsoft. If you find any, let me know.

Meanwhile, in the Microsoft Answers forum, I found an answer posted by a Microsoft employee where he has posted 2 product keys for Windows 8 and Windows 8 Server edition. These are the product keys:

Windows 8 Developer Preview Product Key: 6RH4V-HNTWC-JQKG8-RFR3R-36498
Windows 8 Developer Preview Server Edition Product Key: 4Y8N3-H7MMW-C76VJ-YD3XV-MBDKV

Usually I don't post product keys or serial numbers of any software publicly, but since these were publicly posted by a Microsoft employee in a Microsoft forum and they are related to a trial version of Windows 8, I am posting it here for the benefit of everyone. If anyone find this not a legal practice to share it here, let me know and I will remove them.

These product keys will work with the developer preview version only and may not work with any other builds.

NOTE: These product keys for Windows 8 were posted by a Microsoft employee on response to a question posted by another Microsoft employee and the thread was locked without any other response. So it is obvious that the question was posted for the sake of this answer to publish the product keys.
