Read this article to know more about the desktop style of Windows 8 operating system. Few days back Microsoft revealed that Windows 8 will have a Metro style desktop. In this article, I will discuss about the latest Metro style desktop of Windows 8 operating system.

Microsoft, which is called as operating system giant periodically releasing updates about the next version of Windows operating system. As per rumors in the internet, Microsoft completed three build versions of the latest Windows 8 operating system and it is ready to release the beta version or the Pre-release version of Windows 8 operating system.

One month back, Microsoft started a blog named Building Windows 8. The blog is mainly authored by Steven Sinofsky who is a product manager at Microsoft. Apart Steven, many other prominent persons in Microsoft are authoring the posts. In the blog, they mentioned about an App store for Windows 8 operating system. Apart from the App store, Windows 8 will have support for USB 3.0 . Improvements were made for the copy jobs and a new ribbon interface for Windows Explorer .

Few months back, Microsoft released their first video on Windows 8 operating system. In the video, Microsoft showed a Metro style user interface for Windows 8 operating system. The video was seen by millions of people around the world. After the release of video, many people blogged about Windows 8 user interface. Most of the people guessed that Windows 8 will have two user interfaces. They are The Metro interface and the traditional interface. Many Techno bloggers commented that Metro style of interface will only suitable for tablets and touch screen devices.

As per the Building windows 8 blog, Microsoft stated that Windows 8 will have both the interfaces. Microsoft started their plan for Windows 8 operating system during the summer of 2009. Their main approach is to reimagine Windows. Microsoft wanted to create a perfect user interface for Windows 8 operating system.

To design a new interface for Windows operating system, there are many things should be done before. As per Microsoft, "This is an ambitious undertaking —it involves tools, APIs, languages, UI conventions, and even some of the most basic assumptions about a PC. For example, how do you isolate applications from each other, or prevent applications from stealing all your battery power? How can installing (and removing) apps be as quick and painless as changing the channel on the TV? How do you attract the broadest set of developers possible to a new platform? How do you build a touch-first interface with a unique point of view?

By dealing with many things, Microsoft finally revealed Metro style of desktop which is fast and fluid, immersive, beautiful and App-centric. Though Microsoft is interested in releasing a Metro style of desktop for Windows 8, many PC users around the world are addicted for Windows Xp and Windows 7 desktop style. It will be very difficult decision to Microsoft to ship Windows 8 with only Metro style. As per Microsoft, " Hundreds of millions of people rely on the Windows 7 UI and existing Windows apps and devices every day, and would value (and expect) us to bring forward aspects of that experience to their next PCs.".

Microsoft should design Metro style desktop in a way that, it should be compatible with the new Apps and it should work perfect with the present existing applications. With the metro style, users can seamlessly switch between the Metro style apps and the improved Windows desktop.

From the past posts in the Building Windows 8 blog, we can say that, Windows 8 will have

1) An App store
2) Support USB 3.0
3) Improved Copy Jobs feature
4) Ribbon interface for Windows Explorer
5) An option to mount ISO files without using any optical drive .
6) Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) file support
7) Metro style desktop .
