Read this article to know more about the latest preview pane feature in Gmail. Recently, Google released a new feature called preview pane for its Gmail users. In this article, I will discuss about how to enable preview pane and how to use it.
If you are using Desktop email client like Outlook or Thunderbird or new version of Yahoo or Rediff mail, you may have used the preview pane feature. With preview pane, when you click on the email, the preview of the email will be opened at the bottom of the same screen. You can just click on any mail, the preview will be shown at the bottom.
With the help of preview pane, you can easily go through the summary of email. If you want to read the mail, you can read it or you can jump to the next mail.
Till three days back, Gmail doesn't have this feature. Gmail lacks preview pane. For those users who loves to have preview pane, now they can activate it in Gmail by enabling it in the labs.
How to activate Preview pane in Gmail?
1) First you have to log in into your Gmail.
2) Go to Options. Options will be present at the top right hand side with gear symbol.
3) Click on the options, you will find Labs there.
4) Click on the Labs, you will be taken to the Gmail Lab's page.
5) You will find a option "Search for a lab:" with a box.
6) Type Preview Pane in the search box. Hit enter.
7) Now, you will find Preview pane option, by default it will be in the disable mode. Select enable by clicking on the radio button which is adjacent to it.
8) Click on save changes.
9) Now your changes are saved, Your Gmail will be automatically refreshed. Preview pane will be activated in your Gmail account.
10) Now, in your Gmail, the preview pane column will be added to the right of your inbox.
11) Click on the drop-down menu, you will find three options.
No Split
Vertical split
Horizontal split
12) You can chose any one option, and you can easily adjust the divider between the preview and your inbox.
Preview pane feature will be useful for those who are having large display screen. If you are using a Notebook, I will suggest you to use the normal Gmail.
