Now, you can call from your Gmail account
If you are in India and using your Gmail, probably, yesterday you might noticed a Green Call Phone button with a receiver symbol in your chat list. It is the Call Phone feature. Google launched this feature for Indian users yesterday.
Now, you can make calls to any mobile or land line number from your Gmail account. Google reduced the call cost to international phone calls. You can make free calls to US or Canada till the end of 2011.
As per Google, it's now only $0.10 (or €0.08) per minute to call mobile phones in the U.K., France or Germany (landlines are $0.02/min), $0.15/minute to call mobile phones in Mexico and $0.02/min to call any phone number in China and India. The listed rates do not include taxes and may change at any time. If your billing address is within the EU, you will be charged the applicable VAT rate for your country on top of the purchased calling credit amount - for example, if you order €10 of calling credit and the VAT rate for your country is 19%, you will be charged €11.90.
Now, you can call any phone in India, for $0.02 per Minute. You can go through this Call rate list. You can activate this feature by installing the Google voice plugin.
After installing the plug-in, if you are using the Call Phone feature for first time, you will be directed to the Google voice page. In this page, you can check your calling credits, remaining balance, calling histroy. If you are using Google Voice for the fist time, you can purchase Google Voice credits. Minimum you have to purchase $10 calling credits.
How to make calls from Gmail ?
1) Go to your Gmail account.
2) Click on the Green Call Phone button.
3) A number pad will be displayed on the right bottom side.
4) Enter the desired calling number with country code.
5) Click on the Call button which is present at the bottom.
