In this article I am going to discuss all about BIOS or start up settings. Here I have explained, what does start-up repair tool perform in windows 7? what is the use of start-up repair tool in windows vista and windows 7? how start-up repair tool perform action? when does start-up repair fails to recover unbootable system? how can start-up repair tool fail to solve problem in windows 7? how to access start-up tool repair in windows 7?
First to access WinRE press f8 key on the boot menu, then select windows repair option and after loading windows repair select start-up repair option. Then start-up repair tool performs the following tests:
1. Run BCDMB(Boot Critical Disk Meta-Data Repair) -in case of damaged MBR /boot sector / partition table [Hard disk not found],
2. Read boot manager log and check for missing or corrupted boot configuration data files,
3. verify boot- critical OS Dir structure -unable to find OS,
4. Crash dump analysis -for missing system or driver file ,corrupted registry hive or bad RAM,
5. Checks for incompatible drivers and updates installed,
6. Check SMART failure status and DST for bad disk,
7. Runs full system integrity scan for missing files, and
8. Run CHKDSK for bad file system metadata and also run windows memory diagnostics in case of problem with RAM.
After finding the root cause, the start-up repair perform appropriate repair for the selected root cause. And in case the following errors exist then start-up repair cant recover the unbootable system.
1. Problem in hardware (only diagnosis will be made ,but it cannot repair them).
2. problem that occurs during installation of operating system.
3. In case of Malware it may recover the system but cant remove malware.
4. In case there is no back up for missing driver files.
