Microsoft gained more popularity after the release of Windows XP operating system because it provides platform to home as well as enterprise customers. It is famous for its stability in terms of compatibility with third party software. It is due to this fact that more than 50 percent organizations are still using it. Windows XP provides all sorts of features which normal customer expects. With the passing of time, hardware cost reduces at constant rate but software manufacturing is still an issue for companies because customer expectations are increasing with time. Earlier, customers are using 2 dimensional graphics on mouse interface but with the vast technology developments, Microsoft itself realize that it is important to skip from Windows XP so to provide more functionality to its customers.

At that time, Microsoft forced its developers to develop a new interface for its customers which are different from Windows XP. This leaded to the development of Windows Vista. It came after Windows XP just to promote customer requirements about Windows new features but still it is difficult to overcome popularity of Windows XP. Then Microsoft came with new Windows 7 OS which is known for its fast speed and execution. It manages the applications in better way by providing multi-programming environment according to which multiple applications can be processed at same time.

Windows 7 OS is also gained popularity but still it is difficult for customers to swap from Windows XP to Windows7. Many technology lovers are using Windows 7 OS because newly released desktops and portable computers consider Windows 7 as their primary operating system. Hardware companies manufacture peripheral devices like RAM, hard disk for Windows 7 customers. Both Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems are divided customers opinion into two phases such that 50 percent of customers are still using Windows XP while other 35 percent are using Windows 7 OS.

When we are talking about Windows XP then it will be the first preference for customers because of its consistency in all aspects but Microsoft still not happy with Windows 7 success. They want to promote Windows 7 OS throughout the world and their recent sale estimations are not good enough for Microsoft. So, finally Microsoft sets official kill date for Windows XP operating system. This is sad news for Windows XP loyal fans that after 995 days, Microsoft will discontinue further support for Windows XP software package.

Before going into further detail, it is important to know release date of Windows XP. It was launched in October 2001 for customers who are not happy with Windows 95, Windows 2000 and Windows ME. Customers noted stable, intuitive and customizable running environment for Windows XP and do not want to leave it. Therefore, Microsoft realizes that it is better to end up XP updates. It will be 13 years life of Windows XP in which it achieved a lot by ruling the world for large number of years.

Microsoft announced Windows XP kill date in World partner conference so to put more stress on newly coming Windows 8 OS. Microsoft wants to remove Windows XP background from Windows 8 OS which will is going to be released in year 2012. Really, it will be very sad news for XP lovers.
