Google's journey from Orkut to Google Plus
Recently, Google launched its social networking website called "Google Plus". Google Plus is one among the "Google Projects". By keeping the project secret for more than a year, Google launched its field trail version of Google Plus now. Google failed several attempts in the social networking market. Google is ruling the market in search and E-mail and it is trying to conquer in many places. But, Google always failed in social networking.

In this article, I am going to discuss about Google's way to Google Plus.
Google's way to Google Plus Before Google Plus, Google launched many social networking sites. But none of them gave a tough competition to other social networking sites. But, Google never stopped its work in social networking. They always tried different things to conquer the social networking market. Google started its journey in social networking from Orkut. From Orkut to Google Plus, Google continuously trying to make its place in the social networking. Here is the list of Google's journey from Orkut to Google Plus.
Orkut Google started its social networking journey by starting Orkut in the year 2004. Orkut was launched to compete with Friendster, seven years ago. Orkut stayed in the market for few years, but constantly it started losing its users. Orkut is top in Brazil and India for few years. Google never tried to improve Orkut. Orkut is still in beta.
Gchat in Gmail Google integrated GChat into Gmail in the year 2006. By integrating the chat in mail, Google started making its prodcut more social.
OpenSocial In the year 2007, Google tried to integrate all the existing social networks like MySpace, LinkedIn and Friendster in an open-source platform. But, no one showed interest in the project and 2007 is the year where, Facebook's dominance started.
FriendConnect In the year 2008, Google's strategy towards social networking was a widget-based strategy, which allowed webmasters to add a dash button to their websites. Gradually, the number of sites using the FriendConnect decreased.
Lively Again in the year 2008, Google started Lively which is an answer to Second Life. This social network lasted only upto six months.
Latitude In the year 2009, Google launched Latitude. The main intention of Latitude is to locate where we are in the map. Initially, Latitude got good response, but the number of users decreased gradually.
Google Wave Again in the year 2009, Google started Wave to combine real time operations with social network. Initially it was very hard to learn and now it was hard to use.
Google Buzz In the year 2010, Google launched BUZZ, which is an answer to Digg. Initially, when it was started, many people felt that Google succeeded with Google Buzz. Gradually, the number of people using Buzz also decreased.
Google+ with several failure attempts, Google released Google+. Google kept this project as secret for more than a year. Google Plus created lot of hype with its beta release.
At this moment, it is difficult to say whether Google Plus will become a part in the above list or Google will succeed with Google Plus.
