What is Google Plus ?
Search engine giant "Google" recently announced its arrival in the social networking market. Google has many social networking sites like Orkut, Buzz and Wave. But none of them made Google a competitor in the social networking market. So this time, Google came back with its powerful weapon, called "Google Plus(+)". Google Plus created a lot of hype in the social networking market. Most of the lucky users who got Google Plus invitation started saying that, "with in less span of time Google Plus is going to beat Facebook", which is a Good news for Google.
Google plus is one of the projects in the list of "Google Projects". Google Plus will run around the concept of Circles. Google's approach to social networking is totally different from other social networking sites. To lead the social networking market, Google thought in a different way, the way most of the people wanted, giving high priority to security, to get permission before tagging a person, maintaining different circles for different relations etc. This approach made Google Plus a different social networking site from others.
How to use Google Plus ?
Even though Google's approach to social networking is different, the basics of Google plus will be seen pretty familiar to other social networking sites. You will have a feed of the posts, photos and other info your friends have shared. You can view their specific updates via their profile. The updates, links, photos, videos you shared will be show up in your stream and on your profile. Every shared item will have a "+1" button, which is identical to Facebook's "Like" button.
Circles in Google Plus
Google plus has much easier approach while creating friends list than other networks and it is the concept of the Google Plus. To create a "Circle" of friends, you just go to friends page, and drag and drop users into one of your circles. Name the circles like you want, for example Best Friends Circle, Office Circle, Relatives Circle etc. Google has a few predefined circles, and you can create your own number of Circles.
When you share something in your profile, Google plus will asks you which circle you want to share it with. Google Plus encourages users to share certain things only with the certain people who are interested in that. You can make certain posts public, if you want to share with every one.
Sparks in Google Plus
Sparks is a innovative concept in the Google Plus. You can't find it in other social networking sites. With Sparks you can not only share content, but discover it in the same place. From the Sparks page, you can type your interests and add them to your sidebar. From the sidebar, you can click on any interest and read related content on that. You can also share the content directly from that page
Hangouts
Hangouts is also a innovative concept in Google Plus. It is group video chatting. It is neat when compared to other video chat service. Google Plus gives you a "start a hangout" button, which will publish an update to your profile saying, "Varun is hanging out". Anyone who see's the update can Hangout with you. Users can also watch YouTube videos in sync with the other people in the hangout, which is a great feature in Google Plus.
