History of Internet Explorer 10

Windows Internet Explorer 10 is the next version of Internet Explorer which was developed by Microsoft. It is the successor to Internet Explorer 9. On April 12, 2011, Microsoft released its first "IE10 Platform Preview". Microsoft conformed that Internet Explorer 10 and its all subsequent releases will only run on Windows 7 and the upcoming Windows 8 operating system.

Internet Explorer 10 is the expansion of Internet Explorer 9 in case of functionality in regards to CSS 3 uptake and hardware acceleration. Internet Explorer 10 is released four weeks after the final release of Internet Explorer 9. It has been noted as a fast release cycle in the context of the new browser wars.

It was first announced at the MIX 11 conference in Las Vegas. In this conference, Microsoft showcased demo version of Internet Explorer 10 along with a demo of Windows 8 operating system. A Platform Preview of Internet Explorer 10 was released on the Microsoft Internet Explorer Test Drive website on the same day.

Internet Explorer 10 doesn't support Windows Vista and Windows XP. It supports only Windows 7 and the next versions of Windows operating systems. Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1 supports CSS3 grid layout, CSS3 flexible box layout, CSS3 multi-column layout, CSS3 gradient, and full hardware acceleration.

Recently, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 2 which has full Support for CSS3 Positioned Floats, HTML5 Drag-drop, File Reader API, Media Query Listeners, Web Workers with Channel Messaging, HTML 5 Sandboxing, HTML5 Async script support, W3C performance APIs, and initial support for HTML5 Forms.
