What is Google Translate ?

Google translate is a free translation service that provides instant translations between different languages which were supported by Google. It can translate words, sentences and web pages between any combination of supported languages. It is a free translation tool from Google.

How does Google Translation work ?

As per Google, it works on a pattern called "statistical machine translation". When Google translate generates a translation, it looks for patterns in hundreds of millions of documents to help decide on the best translation for users. By detecting patterns in documents that have already been translated by human translators, Google translate can make intelligent guesses as to what an appropriate translation should be.

Google translate support extended in five more Indian languages

Recently, Google announced the expansion of its translation services. Google translate to include five more Indian languages. They are Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati and Telugu. By extending the service, Google is going to increase its reach to a potential half a million population.

Since these languages each have their own unique scripts, Google have enabled a transliterated input method for those who don't have Indian language keyboards. Google transliteration allows users to type Indian languages phonetically using Roman characters and keyboard. You just need to type a word the way it sounds in English and Google translation feature will convert it to its local script.

For example, you can see in the following image. When you type Mother in English, after clicking on translate button, it has been translated as "తల్లి" in Telugu.

Now, you can enjoy translating from different languages to your own language, and from your language to different other languages.
