Why Windows 8 coding is a headache for developers

We know that Windows 8 uses tablet based interface for its customers to provide them better platform to experience more features in Windows 8 OS but new Windows 8 interface is fully different from previous operating systems because backward compatibility is not there in it. So, it is difficult for developers to use existing coding concepts on Windows 8 OS. In this article, I will explain to you the reasons why Windows 8 coding is becoming headache for developers.

We have been waiting for the release of Windows 8 from last year but Steve Ballmer finally declared that it will be expected to launch in year 2012. During the demonstration of windows 8 at D9 conference, the reaction of Windows lovers is positive because they love the new clean and thoughtful interface of Microsoft Desktop operating system. As some experienced developers noted one thing during demonstration and they are more concern with backward compatibility. Developers past experience and knowledge on Windows XP, Windows vista and Windows 7 will be wasted because concept of Windows 8 interfacing is new in comparison with previous operating systems. Moreover, we can say that every program written with past experience would be considered to be useless in Windows 8 OS.

Windows 8 Desktop screen consist of new look and feel according to which you can interact with Windows 8 using a tablet interface with new style immersive applications. A new set of applications are introduced in Windows 8 operating system. This is headache reason noted by Windows developers because if you want to make any application program in Windows 8 then existing concepts will be overwritten by new concepts. It is time consuming to rethink about new concepts for project planning as it require large finance and cost during its development. Moreover, Introduction of extra ordinary features becomes headache for developers. For example- Developer platform requires HTML5 and JavaScript environment for Windows 8 development which is difficult to design.

Timing and costing issues of Windows 8

While going through the detail of Windows 8 operating system, we came to know many extra-features of windows 8 which is not there in previous operating systems. According to estimations, Windows 8 developers invested a lot of time, effort and financial capital into HTML5 and JavaScript platform. Earlier, we make use of Win32, COM, .NET, Silverlight and WPF application for creating desktop applications on Windows but now we use updated version of visual Studio 6 and WinForms for creating Windows 8 applications. Thus, it requires more learning experience about updated softwares.

Secondly, Windows 8 uses HTML5 and JavaScript for its new immersive applications. It is disturbing element for Windows 8 developers because context switching between knowledge and expertise is required which tends to take large amount of hours for learning latest Microsoft technology. It is so much time consuming for Windows 8 developers to efficiently work with Windows 8 operating system.

Moving HTML5 to Windows 8 foreground is headache

As we know that HTML5 is latest client side scripting language developed few days back just to promote the designing and implementation of dynamic web pages. Through this, you can stream the videos using enabled JavaScript. For live streaming of video, Microsoft Silverlight is also used. you can play games online like angry bird and enjoy audio streaming. This is difficult to implement as lot of effort are required to code HTML5 in Windows 8 platform. On the issue of HTML5 and JavaScript implementation strategy, A lot of fighting and group discussions are carried out which finally leads to wastage of time. There are many complications with HTML5. So, it is considered a headache for developers.
