In this article, I am going to discuss about "Backup and Restore" facility, which is available in Windows 7 operating system. Without using any third party applications, we can backup our hard drive in Windows 7 OS. The process of creating backup and how to restore the created backup is discussed in detail.
How to use Windows 7 Backup and Restore facility
In Windows 7 there is a special application for
Backup and Restore
. The backup and restore utility is one of the best utility in Windows 7 operating system.
The process of creating backup and restore is an easy process in Windows 7 operating system. To use backup and restore, follow the below procedure.
To set up a backup in Windows 7, click on Computer, right-click on your local drive and select properties, then click on the tools tab and click the back up now button. Windows will search for a suitable drive to store the backup or you can also choose a location on your network.
You can choose what to backup or Windows will select you some default folders. If you let Windows choose it will not backup program files, files in the recycle bin or any temp files that are 1GB or more.
Select the files and folder to include in the backup. You can also select the option to create an image of your local drive. After selecting the files and folder, review the backup job and make sure everything looks correct.
Save the backup settings and start the backup process. Click the view details button to see exactly what is being backup during the process. It takes some time to backup, totally depends on the size what you selected. When the backup is complete you will see the two backup files. Double click on the backup file and you can restore files.
To restore files from backup, you need to go back and restore a file from a backup. Click on restore my files in the backup and restore center. Now you can browse or search the most recent backup for a file or folder your missing. Next you can restore them back to the original location or choose a different spot then click restore. The progress of the restoration depends on the size of the data and also the place where you are restoring.
If you follow the above procedure, you can easily back up and restore the files in Windows 7 operating system.
