In this article, I will discuss the BUILD event organized by Microsoft to give a heads up on the new application development model for Windows 8. The BUILD event is the developers conference similar to the PDC, but is meant for all developers including professional and hobbyist developers.
Microsoft has setup an official program called BUILD. This is to help developers give a headstart on application development for Windows 8 using HTML 5 and Javascript. Looks like HTML is the official platform for Apps development for Windows 8.
BUILD event is a developer event to be conducted in Anaheim, California from Sep 13 to 16th this year (2011). If you are an application developer and like to learn more about the BUILD event, take a look at the official website of BUILD:

.
This is not a Professional Developer Conference (PDC), but is meant for all developers including professional as well as hobbyist Windows developers. Unlike WPF and Silverlight, HTML5 is an easy to learn platform. You do not have to be a .NET expert or professional programmer to develop Apps for Windows 8. While traditional applications are fully supported in Windows 8, the native platform for App development will be HTML 5 and Javascript. Microsoft kept it's lips closed on support for Silverlight for Windows 8 App development.
Microsoft is expected to share the Windows 8 App model in the BUILD event.
I am excited and can't wait to learn more about Windows 8 App development using HTML5. However, I am not sure if I can make it to the BUILD event this year.
